Now that there are a few Rugers in Canada I was wondering how they compare to the Spartan? Which one would get your vote?

What caliber?
What do you intent to use it for?

Beside that they are approximately in the same price range, this comparison doesn't make any sense at all.

I was looking at both of these for my first 1911. I don't think you will find a definite answer due to the fact that the Ruger SR1911 are a rare find at the moment. The only reason I'm leaning towards the Ruger is cause it has a nice stainless finish and the finish on the Spartan doesn't hold up that well from what I have heard. But the Spartan does have a match grade barrel and is tighter fit than the Ruger. Could the Ruger match the accuracy of the Spartan? Only time will tell.

To compare you need both guns. They need to be taken apart, put back together and see how it fit. Then, same ammo needs to be fire.
Some for accuracy, some for rapid fire.
We need to know what is the trigger pull and reset, then we are good to compare.

What do you mean this comparison doesn't make any sense? Both 1911 style guns in 45 caliber around the same price? Why not compare them? What more do you need to compare two guns? Similar style, same caliber, close in price??????????

A few points to ponder...

The STI Spartan is made and finished for STI by Armscor in the Philippines. The frames and slides are supplied by Armscor, the internal parts are supplied to Armscor by STI. The Spartans are made separate from the other guns that Armscor makes. Final QC is performed on each Spartan by STI in Texas before shipping to distributors. and dealers.

The Rugers are made in Arizona,by Ruger.

The Spartan has a Bomar rear sight cut. The choices of sights that use this cut are extremely limited, making it difficult to switch out the rear sight if you decide that you don't like the adjustable sight that comes stock.

The Ruger uses a more common rear sight cut, making it easier to change out the rear sight if you want to.

Both great guns. going with either one would not be a mistake and you would likely not regret buying either one. That said, I can't wait to get my Ruger SR1911 when it finally arrives!!

After some brief searching about the warranty on the Ruger SR1911 I found out that there is no real warranty on this pistol. If I am not mistaken the STI Spartan comes with a lifetime warranty. This could be a factor for some people.
