Ruger SR1911: worth it?

Just handed over my $500. Sorry, crappy cell phone pic for now. I might have it by Friday if the CFO plays nice.

^this. $1 rd, $2 rd...wild horses can't keep me from shooting a new (or new to me) gun. The anticipation is murder, pacing back and forth, absolutely no focus on anything but...then the wife chimes in, "Why don't you just go to the range and get it out of your system?" I love my wife.:)

I bought two Ruger 1911 . Front sights blew off. Couple hundred rounds fired. Cost me 32.00 for new front sights. Then one shot loose in under a thousand rounds. Second Ruger 1911 started to get very loose fitting as slide to frame so I sold them both. Both full of MIM parts. These two were of low quality in my book. Wanted SR Commander but not now. I hope newest batch fix these issues.

Just picked it up today! I dare say this is now my favourite handgun in my collection. The trigger is easily the nicest of the three that I own (not saying much I know).

The entire handgun collection (thus far):

Ok, I just field stripped it for the first time and put it back together. Everything works as it should but now the slide to frame fit feels looser. Am I just imagining this or could I have missed something?

Just stripped it or did you clean it as well? Wipe any grease off the rails?

No, just field stripped and put back together. Just did it again a couple more times to make sure I got it right. I must just be imagining things. Plus, it isn't exactly an expensive gun so the fit probably wasn't perfect to begin with.

It was this very fit that I had referred to when I said "If it's tight go for it" (or something to the effect). There were a run of Rugers that were "rattle traps", and others (earlier production runs?) that were really nice.

In any event, the loose/looser slide to frame will not give any noticeable issues while shooting it.
