Ruger's Gunsite Scout 308

I suspect the Scout would benefit from a McMillan stock upgrade. I've never handled one, but the factory stock looks a little clubby to me. That silly bird cage flash hider does nothing to improve the appearance of the rifle, and a proper flash hider should look more like the FAL or M-14 style but would be out of place on a carbine length rifle. I'd be just a happy without it, but a detachable 10 shot magazine is a nice touch. Beyond that, the Ruger 77 action is strong and dependable, so anyone wanting a short .308 could do worse.

I have confirmed with the Ruger factory that the models shipped to Canada will not have a flash-hider, will be equipped with an 18" non-threaded barrel, and will have a stainless finish.
The BATF will not allow export of firearms with flash-hiders.
Perhaps with the 16" barrel and the stock spacers removed there is a minimum overall length problem.
But why in the world put a stainless finish on them?
I have cancelled my order.

There is no overall length problem they are just using a different barrel and picked 18" out of the air or based on some other countries/regions requirement.

I guess even a threaded barrel is too scary for US export these days....That would have been the easiest just un thread the flash hider and then export.
