Rumors of a Spring Election

The Conservatives need to vett and select the appropriate candidates. Labour and business friendly, bridge that gap. Those who don't share extremist views on either end of the spectrum, those who advocate on sensible, boring, governance. Fu<k the gong show sh1t.

All good advice.

Now do you have any advice for the posters on this thread? The bulk of posts look like problem "identification", tasks for others based on past failures (from the 1990's https://www.producer.com/1998/09/antigun-control-movement-plans-parliament-hill-rally/ ) and nothing different for gunnies to do for the community that will turn the tide.

Step One: Convince your drunk uncle to stop splitting the vote by voting PPC.

I don't care how much you think the CPC is Lib Lite, the PPC will never form government in today's Canada.

Hold your nose and vote for PP - it's the only way we take down Trudeau.

^^THIS^^
The PPC is why we got the Turd again last time round! those who don't acknowledge that mistake are distend to repeat it!

Out of curiosity why not everyone vote PPC and not split the vote (seriously asking, Im curious to hear opinions) Do something different and maybe get a different result? What's that definition of insanity again?

Don't get me wrong I personally don't think whoever gets voted in will every make appropriate changes to truly make Canada a better country. The path we are on is ultimately the path will go, to many people in this world for decades have done things for personal gains listening to what they want to hear.

Never in my life would I have thought this would be happening with zero push back or fight.....in the past when people rolled up their sleeves it wasn't to get a jab it was to give a jab.

Because the PPC have 0 chance.. absolutely 0 of ever winning an election, the CPC may have a chance if people would stop splitting the vote.....unfortunately, Montreal and Toronto love their Boy Trudeau. It will always be an uphill battle for us. To make matters worst the Liberals have the CBC in their pocket as their official personal media outlet.

Here's how many seats are needed for the CPC or PPC to win.

170 is a majority

If no one has 170, its whoever has the most.
There isn't a specific number because they are split between so many parties.

Right now
Libs have 160
CPC have 119

PPC got almost 5% of the vote but the got 0 seats so effectively those votes were wasted
If you compare that the Bloq that 7.6% of the votes, they turned that into 32 seats!!
and the Green got 2.3% of the vote and they turned that into 2 seats

All the PPC do is take seats away from CPC.

I'm not here to fight ideology, its just MATH!

Without a majority win, a Conservative government would fall to a confidence vote the first time the HoC was called together. The Liberals and NDP have no shame and would gleefully return themselves to power.

Remember when Joe Clark infamously announced an 8 cent increase in gas tax?

A majority is the only scenario that helps us.

What actions should we be taking to build the conservative vote, while also dividing the three opposing parties? You tell me CGN...

Full stop, Canadian Conservatives need to shut up the religious bible thumping chunk of the party. A win with compromise is better than a Liberal government. Canadians can accept a Progressive value Fiscal Conservative government. They cannot accept a social conservative government. A environmental progressive conservative government would definitely win. In the end Trudeau's managed to seem environmentally friendly while barely doing more for the environment than Harper. Learn from Obama, put the children in cages but make it look good.
The right wing in Canada needs to stand for freedom and democracy, not the bible. That also includes being pro LGBT, anti-racist, etc. The right should stand for freedom which also includes the freedom to be any gender you want and the freedom to be any race you want. That does sometimes result in us not forcing people to have 3 gender bathrooms and that can be labelled as anti-LGBT. We need to make it clear that freedom has benefits and costs and the benefits outweigh the costs.

We also need to better emphasize Trudeau's mistakes instead of letting them shift this into a debate on abortion.

The freedom convoy protest discussion has focused too much on the convoy rather than how it was treated versus the violent pipeline protests in BC.

The Conservative party needs a strong leader who can recognize reality and compromise. Harper did this somewhat as did Obama and O'Toole. Pierre can hopefully do this. Kiss a man if you have to.

Also we need to kill any votes for the PPC. People need to vote to win instead of voting for the party that most matches what they support. PPC votes moving to the CPC would make a big difference and PPC voters definitely prefer a CPC government. The Liberals win because a lot of NDP voters vote Liberal to ensure a win.

PS: CPC needs to address the big issues. Promise to get every homeless person into a facility (make it illegal to allow a person to stay on the street). Pursue making a Caribbean island Canada's Hawaii so Canadians get easy vacations+sun+parties, improve freedom of speech+social media platforms so Canadians can tweet easier, offer large incentives to get an electric car manufacturer here, Pursue CANZUK and closer things with the EU (Canadians love the EU), etc.

Vacations, homeless, social media, things that will steal voters from other parties.

^^100%^^

Conservatives have a brand of fiscal prudency. Focus on this!
We are going into a recession, who do you want as the owner of the cheque book?

Another fantastic sound bite that was lost in the last election was that the Conservatives had an environmental plan. The key difference was that it was achievable. None of the Liberal promises have been kept (on any portfolio). Hammer that home!

PP needs to come out and say that the CPC are the grown ups and in troubling times that who you need running things.

Like you say above, don't get pulled into the traps of abortion, gender, ###uality and religion. There is no upside to that. If you really believe in freedom you believe that people can do whatever they want as long as its not hurting you. That's a 2 way street!

This right here, 100%. My fence sitting friends would all vote for a party like this. They cannot vote for a bible thumping 1950's style catholic based party. Or one that is going to restrict their freedoms just because they dont fit the bible. Freedom for all. Bring the progressive side back to the Conservative party, with an even hand on it so it doesn't become a woke point ideology, just a better safer more secure life for all

Stop using far right talking points and go after the moderates and centrists instead of the 5% far-right fringe vote. The centre is where you will get your minority government, especially with Libs lagging in the recent polls. If PP and the CPC can stomach some small concessions and avoid using the Repub playbook that is sliding to the right down south they would easily win the election. Unfortunately the CPC keeps sliding closer to the PPC as they are scared of a split vote and it will burn them. Focus on fiscal responsibility and economy and stay away from social issues on the campaign trail. Portray PPC as extremist and present yourself as a moderate in an age of extremes.

I know some people will hate this comment but this is how you will elections. CPC will continue to be held back as long as they highlight their archaic social policies, continue to deny science on climate change and wade into culture wars. Like it or not, we are typically a progressive country, the Libs stole the last two elections because they stayed closest to centre while CPC slid right in an effort to keep PPC contained and it bit them in the ass. Be the voice of reason, not the raving lunatic on the corner throwing ice cubes at the sun.

Youth these days are very pro freedom. They go insane when you tell them they can't do something. We need to focus on that to get the young vote. Many of my friends who love milking welfare went insane at the covid restrictions. Maybe even make 18 the legal driving+drinking age across the country. And yes freedom is a 2 way street and the CPC needs to stand for freedom and get away from religion. Religion will be protected when people are free to practice it but lets not codify any religious practices. The CCP is cracking down on protestors which mirrors the Liberals, we need to wake people up that going left is exactly how China/Venezula/Russia were created.

Also I think the Conservatives need to push an environmental plan thats totally unachievable but sounds great. I think we need to go mass solar+nuclear+wind+geothermal. We need to get electric car manufacturers here. We need to make a massive carbon capture project city. Promise to eliminate all Canada's emissions in 20 years through carbon capture which is realistic.

I would say that if everyone voter PPC, like the poster said, they'd have a fare chance at winning the election.

Call yourself Don Quixote…
If you actually believe this is even remotely within the realm of possibility then you are utterly deluded.
It’s like the anti-abortion people who think, “one day we’ll convince them that it must be outlawed”.
Totally crazy…
If you split the conservative vote again, then IMO you have no right to complain about losing your guns.
You could’ve done something real by being flexible and practical…but you chose not to.
