A little bird just informed me that a good sized shipment is inbound and will be made available to several well known gun dealers around the country. The importer is NOT who I thought it would be.

I'm feeling a little sheepish  , as my first impulse was to keep quiet: I want one first! But, I can't keep my big mouth shut and want to share the good news with all you fellas.

The more guns in Canada in responsible hands, the better for us and democracy! :D

It will take at least a month, likely two or more before all are landed, registered with the CFO and shipped to the stocking dealers. So, watch for news.

Now, where can we get surplus 30-06??

"And that's all I'm gonna say about that". - Forrest Gump.

"...where can we get surplus 30-06..." There isn't any. No major military has used it since the mid 60's. Mind you, .30-06 ball has never been common here.
Believe what your little bird says when you have a rifle in your hand.

although I find this hard to believe , I want to .
Keep us posted on who whenn and where .
CGN'ers should get first crack at it .

please ??

OK OK, all the details I have. I can be such a tease (always make the wife want more!). ;)

I know that Epps (and other Canadian dealers) have a bunch on order. I have left my contact details and that I want one.

No final details yet on number available or pricing until the dealers receive their allotment. The container is expected to land in a few days; I was told this by the importer today. The importer is Trade Ex Canada Inc. I was told that Marstar and others did not get the order, but Trade Ex did instead.

He estimated retail pricing to be $650 to $700, but this is of course up to the individual dealer.

For that price, I need one in my collection.

It's expensive enough keeping a .308 firing. I can't imagine what it'd cost to blast though 30.06... <shudder>

Actually it's about the same (excluding surplus .308 of course) :)

To hell with it, it is now officially a race between Marstar's M-305 and those Garands, as long as the price is right (650 is the MAX price I would ever pay for a Garand, which is worth between 5 and 600 for a post-war refurb in perfect condition in my mind).

M1 Garand

Hi Rob,

It is worth only or as much as what you want to pay for it........

Some might be lucky but generally top $ brings top guns.

As the rest of the other Garand shooters and admirers, I am really, really looking forward to see this new shipment arrival and store pricing.

I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a shooter, I couldn't care less about matching numbers or wether it was refurbed post-war ... I have a feeling however that quite a few "investors" will jump on that shipment hoping to unload them a few months later ... Wouldn't be the first time it happened.
