Also I thought the G36 was better then the AR15 platform, so why the HK 416![]()
So the US could still operate something that "looks" American while at the same time be inherently German in design.

When university kids with no combat experience use autocad you get the G36
Sorry I really hate the G36![]()
Yes.. yes.. and the German design had NOTHING to do with Eugene Stoner's design.
Pure coincidence I suspect.![]()
nah all the good german gun designers are retired or dead

For all the G36 haters:
Some of the original HK testing at the Yuma proving ground had G36's running 24000 rounds with no lubing, no cleaning and no parts breakage. I love the good DI AR's especially Knights, Colt Canada, LMT to name a few.....but I'm waiting for any DI gun to match that performance. The fact is, despite some of the G36's short comings, no other gun can match that performance. There's also the infamous dust testing and once again the XM-8 / G36 did the best there yet again.
Putting on a new telescoping / adjustable length pull stock, Knights low-profile metal sight rail and an updated mag well to take the inferior magpul mags (which are pretty good these days and alot smaller / thinner than the G36 mags) and you have a darn good combat rifle system....probably the most reliable currently running these days. Most of the detractors have very limited or no experience in carrying a G36.
Rich
Still not as bad as this Estonian's setup in A-stan.
Seriously dude?

G36 was the best low cost gun to equip the unified Germany.
Does it have issues - yes, but it also has some great characteristics.
I run my optics higher than normal - so I can use them passively with dual tube NV. It also helps a lot when shooting on the move etc as you keep your head more upright and level increasing peripheral vision and keeping your equilibrium.
I can also tuck my PEQ under the optic to keep its fragile body safe.
A lot of people forget that "one size fits all" does not work with firearms. What works for you might not work for another guy.
See a ton of guy's at the range with cutom AR's/CZ/XCR etc.. that look cool. But you can see that they dont fit the shooter and they look very goofy shooting them.
