Russian M44 Should I bring those

This is the first time I looked at westrifle/s web site. They list lots at $100, $130, $159 with the same description for each. I assume there must be a difference. All are said to have a black finish. Is that black paint? What does it cost to mail one these days?

That's my ONLY problem with westrifle. I wish they'd describe the gun condition.
It's only proper. I know the prices are great - and I don't expect a novel description. But when there are price differences in the same rifles, a description or explanation is required. Other than that, I have been happy with the rifles I have purchased from them. Especially my sniper repro.

I will never describe bore as excellent even if we ad bore description. Too many people have different opinion on excellent. Most of those rifles are shooters grade, surplus and used.
I am sorry that that happened to you. We try our best. Sometime we miss.
I just got a $130 Mosin from westrifle. Total price shipped to the Windsor area was $207. I think shipping was $55.

The bore on the rifle is DEFINITELY NOT excellent. I would say decent/good at best. The rifling is pretty worn and little bit pitted. I decided to keep it rather than waste $100 on shipping to send it back. It will still make a great range beater.

no need to apologize... "shooter grade" is indeed an accurate description of the rifle, no problems there, and I knew that beforehand. Just sayin if you want excellent barrel you gotta spend $200+ not $100.

I want to join the waiting list but would like to know a price range first. $200 is good, $300-$400, forget about it.

So is there a price point yet?

Just pass if it's too high for you ;)

After they have it in warehouse and everyone has their share (seller, custom, shipper, etc..) they will have a guess how much they can sell it. But of course they know by all the answer they can't sell it more then 200$ apiece. Last batch was 169$, it can't rise that much in a year (hopefully).

I need to know what people think on barrel over look option. In another word I am working on contract right know where I can have good barrel but scratched wood or excellent wood and so so barrel
Guys it is free to Join waiting list.
For ammo in surplus I just sold out. Will bring more in. I also have great price in new production.

Cheers

I would rather have a good barrel than good furniture. I plan on using this thing so it may get a few bumps and bruises anyways. Barrel first, wood second.

For me, barrel condition is a must. Scratched, cracked stock can be fixed and refinished easily but a so so or worst bore is next to impossible to deal with. I say go with the best bores you can find and dont worry for the wood:cool:

Excellent wood and good barrel :)

YES.

Id would rather the best of both worlds, if I can only have one.....I guess barrel, cause I already have a mint polish i would stop shooting if I get one of these. Im not a fan of poor woood either as I wont fix anything.

Just bring in the best you can at the best price and most of us will be happy.

The best bores, everything else is secondary, but if they are ratty looking ,we pay less if it has both great bore and great lumber , we pay more! So squeeze your contacts till they are bleeding from the eyes ,to get us low prices! ;0)

As someone that just bought a nice looking Tula from you I'd have to say that I like the idea of you bringing in some M44's. But I wouldn't buy one since a shooting buddy already sold me his. And it was born the same year as I was. So I'm good for M44's.... :D

Seriously they have enough of a reputation for being a harsh shoulder thumper that I suspect you will not sell them quite as fast as the full size Mosins. I may be wrong on that but the carbines DO have a bit of a reputation in that area. I have to say that they deserve it too. Nothing that a slip on butt pad wouldn't totally cure. Just that with nothing but steel on the butt it's a little harsh. So likely some would not buy them even if they already have a regular 91/30.

Mind you if you can sell them for under $200 I strongly suspect they'll go like hotcakes at a buffet breakfast.... :D

Na! They don't thump shoulders. The bayonet makes up the weight difference and the short barrel reduces velocity(recoil). The main problem is short sight radius, off set front sight posts.
The guns recoil in an arc not straight back.
This causes the shots to also pull. Only firing Mil-surp ammo with the baynet extended helps, but the short site radius is still a limiting factor.
