Russian SKS45 long thread.

Wow! But I'm always hesitant with regards to a "war trophy"... Lots of fakes...

Cheers
Jay
P.s. with 2 days 2 go in the auction, the final price will be way higher than 1200...

maybe .... bcos it comes with a chinese spike bayo but then i was thinking if it was a fake then why leave the chinese bayo on , why not just replace it after leaving a new one russian bayo in water and dirt for a week , get that old look, instead the seller surmise that a soldier switched the bayo cos he wanted to use the russian blade bayo as a knife .

man if its a FAKES!!! then that could ruin the buyers day ....

Frontier now lists 64 SKS rifles left... Get 'em while the get'in is good!!!

Cheers
Jay
P.S. I wonder how many guys "double" ordered? One with SIR and one with Frontier??? I did!!!

Ordered one from frontier taxidermy today. I had already ordered one from SIR Mailorder and I was willing to pay the extra to be sure to get one. Well I spoke with Marlin's wife that I was sure to get one so long as they are not short shipped. Well that put my mind at ease. About as much as the SIR Mailorder lady telling me that I was sure to be put on backorder for one.

"This Russian, Tula Arsenal, 1954 SKS is a fully documented war trophy of a soldier based at Dong Tam in the Mei Cong Delta region of South Viet Nam April 1968 – March 1969. This SKS is in very good condition".

I'm wondering when we all get our SKS', the EE or the general value of SKS' will drop dramatically? I can't see people charging $300 + for these rifles when everybody bought them for under 200 (from SIR). Am I right or can we all just sell them for profit after?

You will see the same thing as with the Norinco M14's . As soon as the dealers sell out (and even before that) Guys will be putting them up for sale in the EE for way more than what they sold for . Of course the adds will say

Very Rare Original Russian SKS rifle . Special selection hand picked , You cant find one better , Unfired since left the former Soviet Union . Don't miss this chance to own this highly prized rifle , One just sold at auction for over $2000,00 . Must sell to fund new project , First I'll take it for $700.00

But for me I will take my SIR & Fromtier SKS's and shoot them till they're worn out

You are right on the money! That's why I have ordered two and will probably put one on the EE in a year for a "bargain" $500. Then shoot the hell out of the Chinese and Russian ones I can afford to feed from the profit from the $500.

Man I can hardly wait, I am ordering up the rear sight mount today in preperation. Gonna mount a red dot up front.

And the bubbaing begins... Don't forget an ATI Dragonov stock. :D

its not bubbaing if it can be reversed .:D

the russian comes in two type of stocks , arctic birch hardwood and laminated , the arctic birch has a tendency to split at the grip so its not a bad idea to replace it but dont sell cos the stock has matching numbers.
no problem with the laminated stock .

Did I hear correctly that getting after market stocks will be a problem in the near future. I was speaking with a local supplier a month ago, and if I remember correctly he mentioned something about the USA not allowing the importation of SKS stocks. Then again he may have just been trying to get me to buy one of his stocks lol.

My Russian has an original stock ( not cracked) and I was thinking of putting an after market one on just to make sure I myself do not crack the stock. I want just the basic Monte Carlo one. Who makes the best one, A.T.I, or Ram line or Choate.

In my opinion the best aftermarket stock for the sks is the Tapco T-6.
