Russian SKS45 long thread.

thats what i heard too but you know these things, they always manage to find their way up here some how .

I heard that ATI had their export permit pulled or something like that but I ordered my stock from sks man , he has no problem shipping stocks to Canada , it takes about a month to get but worth the wait!
Another good place out of the states to order stuff is gunpartsguy

I've got some ATI furniture on some of my guns, and for the price I'm really happy with it. I've tried ramline's 10/22 mags and based on that alone I'd sya their stuff is garbage...go with ATI, or better yet Tapco.

canada do not require an import stamp .

having said that , it doesnt mean there isnt an import stamp done by an american importer that was destine for the US but got cot behind the ban .

my russian SKS45 has such stamp , altho its on the barrel instead of on the side of receiver so its not too visually ugly.

not so on my newly purchased M14s , just arrived from china and it has an US import stamp on the side of receiver .

I checked with SIR the other day and they have ATI stocks at a decent price and they are in stock as well. I would actually like the stock with the bayonet cut but if not I'll get the ATI sporter stock.

Geez

This thread keeps popping up in my control panel, and with all this talk about short shipping I have hedged my bets and just ordered one from Frontier as well.

I am new to all this stuff, though, and when chatting with Frontier they said that many of the orders have "special requirements" or features that have been requested by the customers in order to fulfill their order. I don't know what to ask for, so I hope I just don't end up getting the guns that nobody else wants. :(

you need not worry about not getting one from SIR cos you are one of the early ones to order from them (feb 29) . however nothing wrong with hedgings your bets.

"special requirements" are collectors grade , those were long spoken for at a higher price so your only option at frontier are the shooters grade which are perfect for someone new to SKS like yourself, later on ... you can upgrade.

Placed my order the same day Marlin advertised the SKS's coming in, for not a collectors, but a hand-select grade (supposed to be the better of the three choices apparently).

Wonder what I'll get..

for $270 , you better get all matching and no nicks on the wood .

all i care is the metal is good , not wore out , shooters grade comes with nicks on wood and non-matching , those i can handle .

i can sand and re-varnish and bring back the shine .:D

I ordered myself a hand-select.

Of course I specifically requested one with nicks in the wood. :D

Basically, I asked for all matching, excellent steel, but with preference to stock graffiti left by any previous owner. I find it interesting, and these rifles ARE a part of history. What could add more historical value than something hand carved by the grunt that had to carry the rifle around all day?

Has someone got their SKS yet???

if i get one , i gladly trade you for your perfect stock. :D

I Ordered one from SIR on the 26th of April and yesterday I got the backordered letter in the mail. The letter said the item was on backorder and would be shiped to me within 60+ days when the order was recieved from the suplier. It didn't say anything about possilby not getting one.
I guess we'll just wait and see. I am not in any hurry for this anyway. It's my M14 I can't wait to get.

WOW... Okay... Now I am a little irritated/confused... As I stated before, when I contacted SIR, I asked the girl exactly this... "Will I recieve a letter confirming my order?" She told me, "No, we are not sending out letters, we are simply keeping a list, bla bla bla..." So, what I have from SIR is the order page I printed off their system following my placing of my order... No # or back ordered #...

To date, I have NOT recieved a letter in the mail from SIR about my order, but I did provide them with ALL my info, PAL etc...

Friggen SKS is gonna drive me nuts, ha ha ha...

Cheers
Jay
P.S. Thanks for the heads up Boston James, I'm going to call SIR again!!!
