Russian SKS45 long thread.

SIR had them originally listed at $169. Since they had issues getting their shipment, they ordered from another supplier that was a little more expensive than originally posted. So they upped the price to $214. People have been waiting for over a year to get their purchase and are still waiting. I doubt that they will have any extras available unless some people have canceled their orders.

Boo Hiss! Yea, I ordered early, but didn't know they upped the price on all of them. I thought I heard about a second smaller shipment, but didn't know even the original orders would be bumped up.

When I contacted SIR last week to reconfirm my order from last March they said yes they are getting them & no change in the price on my orig order

sks unissued

I had a unissued sks on order from Frontier, called gave them my info even asked again "are you sure im getting one" they assured me I was. Well you all started getting them and nothing for me, checked my card...... no charges, emailed......"oh sorry we didnt have enough", no call, no communuication, I couldnt believe the lack of regard for customer satisfaction...anyway they offered a refurb for some time later!!

Well I guess I should have bought from Frontier. I should have known better buying from SIR/Cabelas, but I jumped in on the "craze.". I was literally 100 (+/- 1 or 2) on their list, but I have not heard anything. I own an M14 and CZ from Frontier and they were great to deal with and I should have known better. My bad. I have completely lost interest in SIR/Cabelas and my business will now go elsewhere for most things.

Same thing here. Marlin (and Jennifer) at Frontier confirmed my order for an un-issued sks at least 5-6 times. The last confirmation, after he had received his guns (pinned) and just a few days before the first ones were shipped.

Nothing happened. Called them and Marlin tells me "....oh...yeh...we have your order but I don't think we can fill your order...we ran out of sks's!). How can you confirm orders when you have the rifles in your possession (you know how maney you have) and run out of it?

Obviously, I am not the only one. He did this to a lot of people. "Lack of regard for customers" is saying it nicely! I have a "buyer be aware" rating right next to this dude's name in my books.

Those of you who got your order, enjoy it. I am having a hoot with mine which I picked up from Ellwood.

My Babies Arrived !!!

Well I got a nice surprise when I got home tonight. I have not had a lot of time to go over them, but they look pretty good. Tomorrow will be the day of truth, they get stripped.

congrats ..... looks great , hope to see some close up soon .

Curtton

As soon as I strip them and charge my good camera, I will post better pictures.

Question:
Even though they are not that expensive of a gun, would they be totally worthless if the shellac was striped from the stock and the stock was re-shellacked? After sitting in crates for 50+ years, they are a little rough.

Good for You !!!!, gommee, ------ Looking Good, --- nice looking rifles ---- nothing at this end for me today, I figure Monday or so, Hey, --- if it looks as good as either of those two, I,ll be more than happy !!!! --- Again, Good for you :) !!!!!!!!!

Thanks BWEST. Other than the stocks being a little rough, the rest of them are in great shape. I know I will be spending most of the day playing, but it is Valentine's day tomorrow and I will have to try to ignore the later on and take some-one special out for a night on the town.

As stated before SIR is going to contact backordered customers and offer them a higher priced SKS or a refund. The higher price is in the $216 range. Calls are supposed to be going out now. Apparently over 600 backorders have to be contacted.

Ya know bwest, I have to say you use punctuation marks in a weird and wonderful way. Makes everything seem so exceedingly positive!!! You must be a pretty happy guy!!!! Even if you are hung up on sks...... I'm starting to get the urge for one more.... Argh!!! I can't wait to see what Gary gets..... Aaaaaaah!

I think the quality of Bell and IZH are the same. Short of the screwy pinning. I asked for handpicked, and I have to say that both are fine examples. No forced matches with everything stamped except ejector and gas tube/piston which are electro'd. I figured by paying extra and asking as many questions as you can (thanks T) you kind of inflate the ego of the picker and he ends up wanting to prove what he knows and you end up with a good one. LOL .....But it could also be like the Sally Ann where all the good stuff never hits the floor! It sure would be if it was my store. Cheers
