Russian SKS45 long thread.

I think the quality of Bell and IZH are the same. Short of the screwy pinning. I asked for handpicked, and I have to say that both are fine examples. No forced matches with everything stamped except ejector and gas tube/piston which are electro'd. I figured by paying extra and asking as many questions as you can (thanks T) you kind of inflate the ego of the picker and he ends up wanting to prove what he knows and you end up with a good one. LOL .....But it could also be like the Sally Ann where all the good stuff never hits the floor! It sure would be if it was my store. Cheers

You've seen a definitely Bell import that was not black painted?

The paint, BTW, is merely the bottom tier of Russian refurbishment grades and not a uniquely "Bell" attribute. Both painted and non painted have been found in the IZH shipment so far.

I was at SIR on Friday Feb13 and still nothing is in. I spoke with the gun dept manager who happened to be near the front display case. He said they are coming and hopefully within the next few weeks. Who knows though as this has been the standard line for awhile now.

"They" contacted you... Details please... Is SIR checking to see if people still want their order? Did SIR receive their shipment and are starting to ship???

Cheers
Jay

I sent them a copy of my original order which had price tax & shipping . They confermed my orig order with no price increase . & they expect to beging filling orders within a week or so .

Personally I don't really care anymore , I have more SKS's than I need & the
M4's are in country and about to hit the dealers :dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

Frontier and customer service. I received a long distance call today from Marlin at Frontier. I ordered three rifles from them, a SKS, SVT40 and a M1891/30. He wanted to discuss my preferences in wood and asthestic of the firearms he was sending. You could have bowled me over with a feather. Here was a supplier calling long distance to make sure I was going to be a satisfied customer when the rifles arrived. A big plus to Marlin and Jennifer at Frontier....

I talked to ED at Moving Target today. He has put aside yet another SKS unissued for me with my particular list of wants. They are all IZH imports and are in the process of getting pinned at the moment. He said these are pristine looking rifles, he has gone through all of his and personally hand picked the special ones. He still has lots of unissued that have not been claimed. He also has lots of issued in decent shape. Looks like he will be starting to ship at the end of February. Yee Haw, then there were four.

My New Family Revisited...Picture Intensive

As Promised, I charged up the good camera and took better pictures.

Note: there is no rust, I took the pictures before the detailed cleaning.

1953 TULA (bottom) - IZH import. This thing looks like it has not had a lot of use since new. The gun itself is in great shape. Gold bayonet. The stock looks like the gun sat in the corner, as the finish is all peeling off. The gas tube was extremely tight. The barrel does not look chromed, as it does not look like the 1955 or 55/56. ALL numbers match.
