Russian SKS45 long thread.

I ordered one SKS online from SIR on April 1st, then a second one online April 3rd. I received a backorder snail mail letter from SIR on April 14 for one rifle with an invoice number on it dated April 9th. I cannot tell from whats on the backorder notice which rifle it refers to, the first order or second order. It has my PAL info on it and a billing total for $199.96 and states:

we have entered your order as requested but are temporarily short of item #410050. We expect these to arrive very shortly, possibly within 60 days.

The 60 is hand written on the back order notice, what all this means exactly, I have no idea :)

Exactly- and how to place that order?
I've been looking for real Soviet SKS's since some time now.
Thanks!!!!

with frontier , click the banner above. they prefer by email .

with SIR , you can call them 1-800-265-6245 and place the order then ask for an invoice number , which i have received right away but i have not gotten any notice since .

So I just got an e-mail from from Frontier asking me to RE-send my information. That can only mean two things; 1)they have the rifles and I'll be the first in Canada to receive the new SKS:rolleyes:, OR they f**ked up my order.:)

its not 1) cos the boat hasnt docked yet so it gotta be the other, yup!! your order got fooked.:D actually its good news that they havent lost your order and they still have some avail.

So does Frontier's estimate of "late April" still stand? I just got a crate of ammo from CanAm today but I can only look at it since I don't have an SKS!! Im itchin for my rifle guys.

There all on the same boat !

You got to love these companies that stir the pot and offer items for sale 6 months before they are even in the country

I didn't read the whole entire thread, but is there anyone else other than Frontier and SIR involved with these Russian SKS rifles?

Theres a local store owner on PEI who's getting only 10 in. So there's probably other local gun shops getting small orders like that I'd imagine. I doubt it would be as cheap as SIR's or Frontier's prices though.

that gotta be the importers (bell) fault for taking orders from the dealers before the ship sail , or at least waited till they pass the red tape .

Its called creating a "BUZZ", and it works well in the firearms community. Get people hungry enough, and you will have all your stock sold before you even receive it. Its a smart marketing ploy since the firearms will now not be sitting around taking up space, especially a firearm that costs so little.

I did...in my gun cabinet :D :p :D

It is a great price, much less than I paid for mine.

and you paid much less than me but hey!! i dont have a crystal ball , i didnt know a boat load was gonna show at a deep discount a year later or i would have waited .

that is why im buy two from SIR , its call averaging down .... $400+166+166= $244 average.

now $244 each , dont look so bad .:dancingbanana:

GO HABS GO !!!

Just for everyones info, there was ONE Russian sks at the Perth gun show this weekend... It was in 90% condition (my opinion) with the laminated stock and the price was $350 PLUS tax... AND, it had been "ba$tardized" with a Chinese 5 round mag replacing the original Russian one!!!

I sure hope that they DON'T do that to the rifles coming in via BELL!!! I know Curtton believes they will go the cheapest route and simply pin them... But I can't help but bite my nails a little... Fingers crossed they don't mess with the original configuration...

Cheers
Jay

At the price of the gun I cannot see them investing in replacing the original mag with another Chinese one. Plus, its not like they have a thousand or so Chinese mags laying around.( I don't think they do at least)

This may be a repost as I don't have time to read through 30 pages but this is no the SIR site now.
