Russian SKS45 long thread.

Wow, 227 posts. I really need a life. But none of my offline friends actually care about my addiction!!! Well a couple but they work during the day. LOL. I really hope it gets here today!!!

I suspect this information appears in multiple locations elsewhere on this site, but here's some light reading to keep you occupied while you wait for the delivery truck...

This is a very nice collection of links to various <free> SKS manuals, with abstracts & cover pages for each manual:

The only one I'm aware of online that wasn't included above is a scanned copy of the original Russian manual:

And for anyone not already familiar with these sites:

what do you want one of these for ? when you have a super duper FN C1A1 on your hot hands . :D

Finally got them... had to leave work early because i instructed dhl to leave package on doorstep. They did just that, plus 2 cases of ammo... Sigh.

Hope the pictures turnout.

These are not handpicked.

I asked DHL yesterday to hold the package for pickup, swung by on the way home, no package.... get home there is a delivery notice on the door again saying they will try again monday.... so I called DHL again to ask them to please hold the package. They only say there is one package though, which happens to be the same weight as a crate of ammo, I really hope thats some kind of DHL computer glitch. Maybe I'll find out in 4 hours when I drive to their depot.

update:
its sad, but made me laugh (and then cry again) DHL called my home number this morning and left a message saying "good news, your package has gone out for delivery again, you wont need to pick it up"

I received mine today. Overall, it seems to be pretty nice. Mine was a hand select, and it appears to be a 55 or 56, as there is no date on the top cover. It is a refurb, and the only crappy thing is it is not a matching numbers gun (the mag is a mismatch-forced match with electro pencil). I think it has only been lightly used, but you folks can see the picture of the hammer - you be the judge. The stock appears to be the original (it is a laminate), as do all the other parts I have looked at so far (bolt, receiver, trigger housing, stock - #'s all match. Only the mag is different. Honestly, had I known this before, I probably would have went with a shooter grade, as I really wanted an all matching #'s gun. However, this one looks good and I am happy with it.

Check out my front sight.
Apparently my refurb from Frontier shoots a bit whacky, LOL. :D:D

No year stamp on the rifle so I guess a 1955/56.
Star stamp on left side of receiver.
One faint diamond refurb mark on the top cover.
Two ###X’d out serial numbers on the stock butt.
Faint square stamp with a diagonal line across corners on right side of stock butt.
Solid birch stock with no cross bolt, laminated top cover.
S/N match on receiver, top cover, bolt, and trigger guard.
Magazine replaced, s/n crossed out, new number electro penciled.

Fine looking rifle, thanks Frontier.
