"Packed up", you mean like overseas, to be shipped to Canada?SIR sent an email saying their order is being packed up for them.
Progress, anway.
My Yorkton SKS has been delivered, pictures tonight. Can't wait to get home... wooo hooo!
Got mine today (finally). 1954 Tula imported by Bell (from Frontier)
First impressions:
Forced match stock and trigger group. The rest are natural matches.
Nice dark birch stock in very nice condition.
Great bore! Immaculate.
Painted bolt and carrier.Even the firing pin is painted (at least the exposed parts)
Everything seams tight.
I'm happy about the condition of the bore and stock.
I don't like all the black paint (I'll probably be changing all that)
I just have to find out how it shoots now.
I'll post some pics later or tomorrow.
I tried my NcStar receiver cover scope mount on it, it fits nice and tight and feels very stable. It isn't stable on my Chinese SKS despite machining it to fit. Range time will be the true test of that scope mount on the Russian though.
It may not be the perfect SKS but it's my SKS.![]()
My Yorkton HH SKS arrived today as well.
I've been in touch with Scott at SIR/Cabelas and they are requesting that you confirm with them. Before posting updates to this site about these backorders.

I would have to say that is a rumor we have no confirmation of any of that yet, how about posting on gunnutz that they should confirm before posting ok, thanks.

first time I have heard of the firing pin being black![]()
Nice looking addition. Any idea how you want to put a personal touch into your refurb process?
Got the one I,v been waiting for from Home Hardware, Yorkton, Sask. A 1950 Tula " Again " this time with a Artic Birch stock, all matching, except stock which has been renumbered, and well as gas tube & piston. Sping loaded bolt of couse, bore is excellent, & gold bayo. Shellac is flacking in a few areas, far from perfect , but could be worse. Refurb stamp on bolt cover. Have not had time to strip it down, but hammer shows no sign of penning . All in all , not Too Bad, -- but I believe I like the other /50 , I got from Frontier, Better. --- Soory, Folks, No pictures to share, --- and By the way, Thanks, kwhunter for all the pic,s very good !!! and Hi; to gommee!!!!
---- Yah, Know gommee, ----- I kinda think so, --- its a refurb for sure, But not too bad, was hoping for unissued, But what can I say, ---- right now I,m thinking its a shooter, but I may change my mind again,--- I had so much grief with a Ammo issue for two days, but I can,t comment on that , until its resolvedCongrats BWest. it sounds like you got a decent gun. Are you going to use this one as your shooter?
Does anyone know what the smaller red/brown pouch thing is?
It seems like a pretty nice unit, but I wonder if I should get a non-matching Bell for a shooter.
