Russian SKS45 long thread.

I called twice today and was told "nope...they're not in...we're still waiting."

If you called Cabela's you got incorrect info. I was on the phone with them this morning.

The SKSs are there. They are phoning from the top of the back-order list. There are ONLY 200 guns, there will be no more.

Price is $200 plus shipping and tax. They are reported as "not refurbished".

Those are the Cabela's facts.

My source within Cabala says " They got in only 200 of a 750 backorder so first 200 on the list get guns, the rest wait. There are more comng from the same supplier. Don't know who that is, but the welding is on the follower, not the magazine shell. If you have not received a phone call yet, you propbably won't be part of the first 200. But cancellations cause us to go back to call next person on the list."

That suggests more are coming. No phone call for me yet.

thanks for the info . sounds like they got it indirectly from IZH .... hang in there , you may still get a call .

I got the call today as well - it was kinda embarassing as I was sitting on the crapper at work doing the morning duty
I almost cancelled 'cause I got two from Frontier but thought WTH, I can always sell one later if need be.
Unissued/immaculate I was told - we will see
My order was placed Feb 29 '08

SIR/Cabelas Appreciation

Yesterday I got "the call". My wife took the message, but I got home too late to place my order for the one of 200 rifles they received. I thought that I had missed out.
Apparently not! Calvin (I hope the spelling is correct) made several efforts to contact me both yesterday and this morning and I now have a confirmed order. Thank you SIR/ Cabelas!

I looked at two - both refurbs. I asked if there were special ones in the back, they said no.

They have said a lot of things .They don't know if they are coming or going . Phoned them they tell me still waiting then I get a call & they tell me my unissued 1945 SKS is ready to be transferred & shipped . She says these are unissued better shape than any out there . I said ya sure just transfer & ship it . I really don't care if it is a Bell referb or a IZH unissued . Either way for $200 I cant loose .

GOT MINE! I got called this Fri am if I still wanted it (pre-paid in full I did last year). I said 'yes' and went after work at 5:30pm. They said only 200 rifles came in, I got #197. He showed me the computer screen and only 3 left in inventory, and they of course were spoken for. Anyways, I was very happy with the piece I got. 1952, nice bore, wood very nice re-stamped, black painted metal finish with electro pencil marks. So most likely the Bell Imports. Welded in knob on bottom of magazine body and the usual accessories. I was very satisfied. I also bought the wooden shipping crate for $45 in nice shape. I think it holds 12 rifles?

I called

I had an outstanding order with Cabellas that included an SKS. When I read the notes posted here I called them and was told they were following up on orders from 2007 first.
I am happy to wait my turn but have to admire the paitence of the guys who ordered in 2007 and waited this long.
I took the do not split off of my order and had the rest shipped.

Order Date: 2008-03-01 12:46:36
Confirmed my x2 as follow-up to a message left late afternoon yesterday.

$445 for the SKS, $235 for the ammo (shipped to Ontario).

The friendly but not surprisingly uninformed "Linda" explained to me that these were much better than what I'd ordered originally AND... they would even throw in a stripper clip (!), so would therefore be $80 more... but... because I've waited so patiently for the last year Cabela's would only be charing me $40 more than the original published price. I put up a token fight and the email I'd received just two weeks ago indicating:
"Your price is still locked on the cheaper amount, and you will not have to worry about paying more."
However, I realized that two in the hand would be better even at this price and went ahead with the purhcase - I may go higher up the food chain with Cabela's management re the fluctuating cost (although this appears to be a Cabela's sales technique - I was quoted $210 initially for the ammunition, then after being on hold for 5 minutes the price was revised to $235... but at that point I'd been on the phone long enough to say Yes to anything ;-)

I don't mean to sound ungrateful... $680 all in for x2 Russians and a crate of 7.62 seems reasonable BUT... had I known that would be the price from the outset, I'd have given Frontier all my business (as is I covered my bets and received two beautiful matching unissued 53's from Marlin :)

This is rather disappointing. They really shouldn't be selling them as 'unissued immaculate condition'

To their way of looking at them, the guns are technically unissued, and in immaculate shape. But in the real world of recent Russian SKSs the truth is.................Possibly unissued since last refurb,no scratches in the bb-q finish, not too many scrapes in the wood, and all numbers match one way or another if you look real close with both eyes closed, and use a very vivid imigination.

i picked up mine today. looks real nice . all i need to do now is cut it in 1/2 and put it in to a h&k g36 body
