Russian VS Chinese SKS

Eagerly awaiting pics of pristine brand new guns we have all seen or owned to compare with the poor used mismatched non /26\ chinese examples you recently received in Canada so we can establish what model/country is 'best'.

(Eyes roll)
You misunderstood me I think but there are thousands and thousands of new sks, unissued unfired Chinese sks here in Canada and only a few hundred refurbs brought in within the last 10 months, we all know what a perfect example of Chinese sks looks like! north sylva brought in a handful of refurbs and tried to pawn them off because some folks were jonesing for a Chinese copy, but the price so far has dropped almost 1/3 due to condition and not many people want a refurb Chinese sks when they can get a Russian refurb in much better shape for similar price!

Here’s a pic of my Chinese sks. Unissued, all matching. Is it better/worse than any other sks? Dont know, but I like it.

All chicoms function perfectly fine and as stated several times by members in this thread they can also be very accurate. I only collect /26\ guns because while they may have eventually changed a few things, they never used cast parts, cast receivers, or pinned barrels, and the quality of all years /26\ are top notch.

What arsenal and serial is your sks? You can xx out the last digit or two....

306 sn#1609195
You dated it(1971) in your other thread

Ah... Sorry, I didn't remember.

/306\ is a very early non /26\ arsenal. Meaning, it was one of the first as 26 was phasing over to the T63. We have many serials recorded for this arsenal ranging from 1968 to 1978.

I would like to see a full spread of pics on this gun in a new thread if you don't mind contributing it to our component configuration section where we are recording what arsenal had what, and when.....

You can also run it through the survey and we can extract the data. http://form.jotform.us/form/41858512574158

You will likely learn about your rifle in the process.
Are you mostly into sks or do you have any info on Mosin Nagant 91/30 etc. Can't find much info here, and very little on stickies, I was wondering if laminate stock Mosins are common in the U.S. Not too many here, probably because when they refurbed there were lots of extra stocks around! Just guessing!

I focus on the SKS, not mosins. I have however seen laminated specimens in the US, and I just asked a prominent mosin guru I know. He says not exactly rare but "less common", but they are refurbs making them undesirable for some collectors but they DO command a small premium for folks that like the look.... Maybe $40 to $50 premium over the same pedigree rifle in standard stock.

I got a laminate mosin :D looked for a year to get it. Paid about 240.00

Ok thanks, I think I will pick one up, as was said, just because I don't have one yet! Rumour has it the Mosins will be the next to become scarce!

Always be on the lookout for a few holy grail type Chinese SKS rifles.

The early rifles that were built under Russian tutelage had blade bayonets, rather than cruciform style. These will bring a premium dollar. The other rifles to look for are those with North Vietnamese acceptance stamps. Supposedly some used in Viet Nam weren't marked for a number of reasons. Also a Viet Nam bring back with provenance papers.

Loose cannon I think I’m a fricking idiot I actually acquired these two rifles and I stupidly decided to sell them. Anyways long story short I bought another m59/66 and it’s much nicer then the bottom one with a grenade launcher. But I noticed that the bayo on the top one was like a black dark colour just wondering what you thought? It was probably the nicest Sks I’ve ever come across and the quality was insane.
