Hey guys, I shot my 858 today, and as soon as I returned home I gave it a thorough cleaning (boiling water, then solvent and oil). After scrubbing the barrel with solvent and putting a few dry patches through it, I used my pen light to inspect the barrel. What I saw alarmed me. It looks like the grooves in the barrel have a light rust film in them. I've only had this rifle out once before and I cleaned and oiled it immediately upon returning home, then it sat in my cabinet. I'm worried that this rust coloring in the barrel will lead to more serious damage. I can't believe this happened, considering how anal I am when cleaning my guns. Would moisture in the room cause this, even in a well-oiled barrel? Also, what's likely to happen with this barrel now? I'd appreciate any help. This rifle has less than 200 rounds through it and is always carefully cleaned with detail immediately after use.
