Hell ya and there is an accellerator compound that they also make for extreme cases like the one shown here that makes short work for getting the copper out too.Thanks again for all your help, guys. Might have to look into that Wipeout stuff.
Use a good copper solvent when cleaning.
Why are you cleaning your rifle with boiling water? I would never subject my rifles to unnecessary moisture. If you used boiling water and then oiled it, it's possible you sealed moisture in.... but like others said, it could just be copper fouling.
