S&W 27 grips

I like the rubber Hogue grips , finger grove, O picked up a couple sets used last gun show, for K frames, one is different, too big , N frame?
I an sorry to say, I don't have a n frame at the moment to try them on.
At the price of original factory grips these days , I would not cut them up, but if in poor shape, you could make a nice set of finger groove ones or smooth , if you do any wood work.

I’m waiting on a set of Marschal grips for my S&W 19. Ordered in early January.

I got a similar set of these Hogue stocks for my GP100, I really like them. A bit pricey, but excellent fit and finish. I would recommend them. They have that classic coke bottle shape that fits the hands so good, and the finger grooves are perfect for my mitts.

I quite like those. They look to be midway in size between the factory target grips and the magnas. I find the target grips great for two hand shooting but uncomfortable to shoot one handed.
But I am pretty content with my 5 dollar grips.

I just got the same ones. Like them a lot as well. I find them more comfortable to shoot than the rubber hogue equivalents because the wood spreads out the force of the recoil. The rubbers just deform around the backstrap so the full force is directed through that narrow strip of metal. Fine for light loads up to 357 but gets painful after that.

Never tire of seeing your excellent gun photos, Master G.

Thanks for your kind comments. That was a nice looking 28-2, wasn't it? I sold that revolver a few years ago but I must admit to wanting another...the 28-2 just has a certain appeal to me.

Yes that is a particularly nice sample. Love the 3.5" barrel and it looks like a classic with the Ahrends.

If you use Magna grips, I would highly recommend using a grip adapter (e.g. Pachmayr, Tyler T-grip) with them in order to fill some of the gap behind the trigger guard.

You may be on to something there. I recently go a shop-worn Model 10 with Magnas on it (my 19 & 14 have Targets) and it does feel good in the hand. And I just picked up an old Pachmayr grip adaptor on eBay for $12 US (w. free delivery to my US address) and I must say it does have a nice feel. Hope to get to the range soon.

The only N Frame I have is a 5" 625. The Ahrends Retro Targets are really nice but I have some stiff-ish .45AR loads and I find that I need a rubber grip on it. I got a Pachnayr Gripper (or Compact) which I want to try out. With milder loads the Ahrends or maybe regular Magnas + a grip adaptor will be an alternative.

I am thinking about getting some new grips for my model 27. It currently wears the factory target grips and they are a handful. I've browsed altmonts website and I like that their classic panel grips are a bit smaller.

Any suggestions? Leave it alone? Get rubber grips? Maybe faux ivory...
