It'll be love at first sight.........:D I won't be able to get out to the range until next weekend. :( But I'll let you know....FWIW, I like the 'balance' of it better than the 6".

Mine's home!:)
Now that I've had some quality time with my new HG I have to say it's a beauty. The weight and balance seems perfect in my hands. The stock Hogue mono grips feel great I probably won't have to change them. However, I'm already thinking about changing the front ramp sight. Here are some quick pics I took.

I got out and put over 200 rounds through mine this morning. It shoots incredibly!! Very accurate revolver and the trigger is very nice. At 15 yards offhand I was able to consistently shoot 2.5" groups, DA or SA. In rapid fire DA it opened up to a 8" pattern. Still have to get used to the extra round in the cylinder and was quite surprised that the indexing wasn't much different than the 6 shot revolvers.

RevolverRoger, like Misfire said...you're gonna love it! Hope the wait isn't much longer....

Misfire, sounds like you had a good day at the range with your new HG!
What's your take on the front sight? The stock "plastic" one seems kinda cheap for my liking. I'm thinking of changing it for a partridge with a
gold dot (like on the 627 performance centre) if I can source one.

I'm not fond of the front sight. I does seem kinda cheap. I'll probably be changing it in the future as well. I really like the all black metal one that my Classic Hunter came with but the gold dot one has my imagination going....
Here's a target from yesterday's fun at 15 yards both slow and rapid fire. I didn't save any of the photocopied targets....

Not bad!
I gotta get me some of those coloured targets. No need to squint at 15 yrds!

My first experience with a partridge/gold dot was on the 627. Never thought of them being effective but I'm sold on them now. The gold dot really jumps out making it very easy and quick for target acquisition. The metal dot seems to reflect even small amounts of light making them easy to see. I'd be interested in finding out what options you come up with.

Mine came in the mail this morning from TSE.... Wow. It blows my mind. Its my first revolver, and it definitely will not be my last. It fits my hand like a glove. Coincidentally, Carrie from the CFC left a message on my VM today and they need a copy of my range card to issue my ATT... I gotta move my ass and get that faxed in so I can take this beast to the range.

So what are you guys using for speed loaders? I'm not having any luck with google.

-Ordered mine today.....:canadaFlag:

Finally - It's home!!

Took it to the range today. Loved it! Very accurate and fun to shoot. I was shooting 38 Special today but hope to try .357 Mag very soon, tomorrow maybe.

I am stuck with the old delema. I was at Lever Arms the other day a 5" 686 and and 6" GP 100. What to buy? I have one of each on hold. Want to use them for Max.357 loads that I can use in my Win .357 Trapper as well, Any advice?

Well I can talk about the 5'' 686:
- First thing the 686 is perfect for the 357 load in my opinion
- I find 6'' to be a bit too long for a medium frame 357 revolver
- Accuracy is great
- Unfluted cyl is good looking
- Extra round is always good to have (except maybe for IPSC types)

i am one of the first persons who bought one at crafm a few weeks ago!

i went there for a PC 686 but it was completly out of my budget, frank showed me a couple of different models and when i saw the 7 shot unfluted i fell in love with it!
I am not a huge fan of revolvers but i had to have one in my (just starting) collection, i just bought it like that without knowing anything about it so now i'm glad i just found this thread!
Happy to know it's a limited model and that i paid a decent price for it!

It's my first revolver and third hangun and i love it!

Quickly resurrecting this thread to say I just fired my 7-shot 686 for the first time tonight, and it's flawless!! Shoots like a dream. Took alternating .357 and .38 shots, just for sh!ts and giggles, I was blown away. My .357 shots were much lower than the .38s though, dunno why... Maybe I was anticipating recoil and lowering the muzzle?

Makes me look like a much better shooter than I deserve credit for though! I got that barrel and cylinder nice and hot. Good times.
