S&W 686 price check

you really have to know how to properly set these buys up. Usually a few weeks before i commit to an actual purchase, i mention to my wife that i am thinking about buying a new gun that i absolutely have to have. After the slightly cool period, which can last for up to a week and she has accepted the fact, i then tell her that no, i'm not going to buy it. Many more things we need far worse than a new handgun. Do this scenario a cpl times (usually thats all it takes) and then maybe mope a little bit and finally she will come out and tell to go buy a gun for gawds sake, you deserve it. reluctantly agree. Just don't go to the gunsafe and pull it our and say i bought it last week.

epic!!!! Lmao!!!

My motto is don't tell them and don't show them. Once you have enought or a bunch they can't tell what is new or not. My wife doesn't tell me when she is going to buy a new horse. I come home and there it is in the pasture. I comment to her that is just what we needed another bloodly horse. She reminds me that I don't need all the guns I have, I sulk for a day or so and then get over it and life is good again until the next time.

Well, I got her to agree that I 'need' a revolver, even when I told her the price. So I went to the store and fell in love with a blued round butt model that'll only cost $620 out the door. It's used, but it's tight and I got to put a wheel of .357 through it. Godammit that's fun! So it's tucked away until after my vacation, or until I can free up the funds.

So if anyone cares, that other piece is still there for $799. It's at the only gun store in Windsor, Ont.

......said no married man ever!!!

more like "said the man who shall remain a MAN, and not an emasculated blob"

anyways, it's kinda dumb to have to hide stuff from one's wife, and even dumber to have to spend MORE to buy her something to offset the gun. cuz (sarcastic comment coming) if spending $800 was bad, spending $900 is perfectly OK.

You might want to look at the 686p, 7 shots, the notchs for the catch on the barrel are between the holes of each chamber instead of been just align on top of each chamber where it is less thicker....., not much metal width let in between on top of each chamber in a 6 shots barrel......

I was looking at one of these as a PPC revolver. However, the problem is that with 7 shots you are always going to be left with a live round in the gun as PPC is fired in 6 shot stages. Hence you're always dumping a live round on the ground when proving the gun safe. Loading just six is impractical because it's tough to figure out when the empty chamber is going to come up. Also, 7 round speedloaders for these are a lot harder to find than the standard L-frame 6 shot speedloaders.

As for price, lately I'm seeing a lot of used 686s that are approaching the new price you're quoting. Buy it, buy it now.
