Something I've never found a clear answer to:

Is the arbour pin that projects from the barrel assembly on S&W #3 top break revolvers removable? Were they shrunk or pinned in place? I've never seen one removed so I'm curious. I figure if they could be removed, new ones could be made to tighten up cylinders.

In the picture below I'm referring to the hollow arbour pin that projects from the barrel assembly, just above the hinge and just below the actual barrel mouth.

There screwed in with very fine threads and you wont get it out without bugering it up.
At least thats what i found out on one i had replaced.
Asumeing the one in my gun was orignal and not replaced before, then there all threaded.
If you want to tighten up a loose cylinder on that bushing buy a feeler gage from Can tire and cut the thin .002 tho into strips that fit inside your cylinders hole you might need to buy a couple Gages as it takes alot to wrap around the Bushing. then carefully slide the cylinder back over the bushing. Make sure the gage is not over laped better there be a gap than and over lap.
The hard steel feeler gage acts like a bearing and you can make a Wobbly S&W into a like new one. Put in a couple strips front and back can really make them nice again.
Trick is useing the right thickness feeler gage blade depending on how worn your cylinder is ;)
