S&W M&P 15 Sport II - Convince non-AR owners to take the plunge with new price drop?

I really should not have but the price could not be beat. This sale is amazing, we are paying near what the Americans are for the gun but in the Canadian dollar. Now Ill have two AR's to play with woot.

This is a stupid deal to anyone who has yet to own an AR.

Many many years ago I paid $2k for a used Colt and $1500-2000 was the norm for a tier-A milspec AR.

This is even cheaper than a Norinco... think about it.

Just shot the CDTSA 3 gun (My first) with my shiny new M&P 15, with the Bushnell 1-4x24 illuminated BDC AR optic on it. No complaints about the rifle or the optic :dancingbanana:

This is exactly what happened to me. I saw how cheap those guns are and decided I should honestly think about getting into an AR. Now I bought one and I'm waiting for the transfer notification. The down side of restricted is you can only take it to the range. The upside is you can spend $700 on an AR and have a better gun than a $3000 Non-restricted black rifle.

Seriously though, once the supply dries up, these will very likely go back up in price to at least $799 - $849 or higher. The S&W website lists them at $739 US with street pricing @$600 US. Simple conversion at todays exchange puts it over $800 CDN.

You might be right, but it could go the other way too, we are looking at collapsing firearm and ammo sales in the US... Under Obama it was an 8 year buying frenzy. Not not so much now, things have dipped below "normal" pre-Obama sales even. It could mean lower prices, and more "stuff" here in Canada for a long time... fingers crossed.

I am thinking this as well.

So as of today, who has stock of these and best price? Can't resist much longer.

Bunch of sponsors had them and they sold out fast, few other sponsors then got some more, the sold out fast too, I'm sure there must be more on the way? Keep an eye out.

The M and P AR appears to be hands down the best entry level AR on the market, I was unable to find a bad review on one.

It seems as if the sweet spot for buying an decent AR in Canada is about $700. I was never into the $700 Norinco AR (shot my friends) never interested in spending much more than $700 on a firearm in general, I'm just a plinker, but for $700 I'll bite and give it a try. I'm curious how many have been sold the few weeks at this price point? Would it be hundreds? Even a thousand maybe?

There were a few times I almost bought a NR AR type rifle for over $1000 but frankly I just can't stomach paying over a grand for a toy.

I just recently got my First AR- a Used- but Mint/like new condition QCA for about $550 all in shipped etc. 3 mags, Magpul flip up sight, foregrip etc. included. so I cant Complain- is still a decent enough rifle & a great package price. No issues so far. Then I see this deal right after I bought it. Gahh! Looks like Im going from Zero' AR's to 2 within a Month. Hard to resist at the price. Wonder if the {used} market will reflect this pricing IF there is any popping up on the EE?

There are still several vendors out there with them at $699. Google is your friend, but here's one of many vendors - http://www.bullseyelondon.com/smith...six-position-telescopic-11617-restricted.html

There are some non-CGN sponsors that have them for a few bucks less.

Dealers are expecting more stock in ~30 days or so. Hopefully some additional sale incentives beyond $699 and the first batch and push of buyers. Once demand slows down, price should continue to drop.

Probably not as many purchased them at the before sale prices and would be taking quite the hit if they tried to resell now. Then again the CGN EE never fails to amaze in what people ask for things.

I don't think these will be a big hit investment wise in the short-term given our political landscape, but I could be wrong. There's no one in there right mind that would pay $900 in a year from now (used), when they were just selling for $700. I think this is the new price range going forward, with $50-100 fluctuation both ways. If we could ever get the AR to be classified as NR, that would be an entirely different story and the laws of supply and demand would be at play (as they're now with these sales).

There is no "Think" just "Do"!
