My M&P9 does it 100% of the time. I have every confidence in it with 2 years and 10,000+ rds on the gun. It's gotten to the point where I have to remind myself to rack the slide after a reload, because the slide just seats itself and strips off a round so reliably. I've heard that it was not a design feature, but a result of how these guns are made, Glocks supposedly have this too, but I don't run a Glock.
I would say no. In the Beretta 92FS the slide catch is operated by a notch in the mag follower , so it locks the slide back when the last rnd is fired . When inserting a full mag the catch will release the slide every time. Now in the case of the M&P does the slide lock back when the last rnd is fired ???? I suspect not since I couldn't see anything connecting the mag follower to the slide catch. Just bcs you can get the slide to release by really slamming on the mag it only shows that the fit isn't that good and/or it's been worn out or the spring loosened thus making it drop on some occasions.
It's not reliable enough to be able to call it a feature of this pistol.
The Beretta M9/92FS did it almost everytime. Same with my G17, CZ Shadow SP-01 and M&P Pro. Now try to do that with a 1911.
WTF are you talking about?
What do you mean, "Insert the magazine at 45 degrees"?
Actually you're right, that is misleading - obviously the mag only goes in at one angle. When you 'tap' (smash, hammer) the bottom of the mag to enusre that it's seated, if your hand moves upward and forward at a 45 degree angle, the slide will drop (on a full mag and a gun that's seen some rounds in my experience) and load the pistol.
