S&W M&P9 frame droop problem... have they fixed it yet?

If it doesn't affect function (and I can assure you it doesn't) it isn't a problem. It is an optical illusion, some folks see it more clearly than others and it's more apparent at some photographic angles than others. Nothing to "fix" since it isn't "broken" - at the end of the day would you care if your hammer looked bent if you knew it wasn't?

Does any one know if they have fixed the ugly frame droop problem on the M&P9/40/45 pistols?

Is it a common occurrence or is it pretty rare for pistols to develop this?

umm what the heck are you talking about? never heard of this or seen in in any of the mps at competition or in mine, or my buddies...

you see a curve near the end because the slide curves, put the frame by a ruler and its fine...

Ha!

I will test it with a ruler as soon as I get my mitts on one. :)

I think what the OP is talking about is a perceived problem where the front of the frame appears to 'droop' at a slight angle to the bottom of the slide. In fact, it's more of an optical illusion than anything else. The slide tapers up a little where it meets the frame, but this makes it look as though the dust cover area of the frame is drooping, especially depending on the lighting and angle of the photograph. It has never been a problem...guns with this apparent gap still function perfectly.

There's a fair amount of discussion of the matter here... http://mp-pistol.com/mp-full-size-pistols/17722-m-p-9mm-fs-frame-sag.html

Mine is good and doesn't look like this. Maybe the reason why the Glocks have the pig nose.

Mine has a bit of droop as well, likley a result of the plastic cooling after the moulding. Does not effect function of the gun or the rail.

I went to my smith with this "embarrassing" problem, he said it happens to a lot of "pistols" with a high round count. He prescribed some "blue lube" and it fixed the problem! The pistol straightened right up and shoots like a new gun:ar15:

Ha!

I'm not there yet. But when I am a senior 'pistol' shooter I fully intend to apply this solution. I have to make sure I give my targets a hard time.
