I regret selling my 1006 so much. I was young and needed rent money. Sure the trigger was garbage but it was an absolute tank. The 1006 and Glock 20/40 are probably the most durable 10mms out there.

Actually I liked the trigger.. SA break was super crisp

I was referring to DA but I wasn't clear, my bad. I had target sights on mine, gun looked amazing. I often think of contacting the user I sold it to but I figure there is no way he'd let it go.

I didnt even know there can be good and bad DA :)

I had a 1066 back in the day with the factory nite sites.

Very accurate & surprisingly the trigger on mine wasn't too bad, either.

That is a classic 10mm for sure. They are robust but I agree they are not particularly refined - in terms of the trigger or fit and finish. Not a fan of stock plastic grips either. If they still made parts, they would make nice woods guns if you didn't want a Glock. More collectors than shooters these days.

I am going to get one of these, been trying to track one down for awhile. I have considered a 1066 that I have seen listed but I am trying to hold out for the 1006 or 1026. From what I have heard they are one of the few 10mm that can handle the original Norma 180gr and 200gr loads. I think the 200gr went 1200fps roughly. I have always liked the Steel Framed S&W Semi-Autos, ie 5906 and 4006.

If anybody has one that they would consider getting rid of PM me.

I have shot and chronoed original 200grn Norma ammo. It's nothing special and most max loads in any manual I have owned meet or exceed the velocity. That was before I had an app to track my loads but I recall it being about 1050fps out of a 4.6" barrel. Pretty disappointing really.

1006's have been shown to be able to hit serious round counts with little wear. The one criticism of them that is justifiable is the trigger is not that great. If you can wear one out, you have deep pockets indeed, and a serious shooting habit. As far as I'm concerned, the only gun that holds a candle to them in their class is a P220, preferably in SAO.

You are no doubt right about the 1006. I just tend to baby the out of production guns that have some collector appeal. Yes that 220 looks like a pretty strong package.

Got my 1006 the first year they came out. Traded a Colt Delta Elite for it when I lived in Florida. Still have it. Still shoot it. Would like to pick up a couple of extra mags.

While S&W's 3rd generation pistols ceased production for the introduction of their version of JMB's classic auto, Gaston Glock's model 20 continues to be the best 10mm pistol on the market.

Durable, reliable, digests everything, & even in a "compact" format (G29) Glock continues to make 10mm pistols while other manufacturers start & end production. G20's rule.
