The Smith`s recent quality woes has done much to take the shine off the company`s image
Some will recall the God awful machining done on S&W pieces of scrap iron back in the 80s when they were purchased by that Brazilian company I believe or else that was the British (?) plumbing fixture co?
There was an older chap at the handgun club back in the early 80s who purchased a brand new M66 that spit led like a mad cat the first time at the range with it. The guys got looking and someone had a bore light and by shining light down muzzle while looking with cylinder closed it was shocking how out of time the cylinder chambers were with the bore!!! There were other issues with fit and finish that I cannot recall now.
