S&W Model M629

Peitro, I'm interested in buying a S&W 29 or 629. I'm a total noob for asking this question: Besides accuracy, is there any difference between the 5" and 6".

I just passed my PAL/RPAL. Looking forward to some shooting. :)

However, I fired over 1500 rounds of 9mm and 40 but not revolvers in Cali and Arizona.

TIA!

They feel a bit different in the hand and the sight picture looks different. Try them all and see what works for you.

I justtested mine on the week end. (4') Put 12 shots in the balck at 20 yards. 240 LSWC over 6.5 gr IMR7625. About 820 fps. Pleasent load to shoot.

Cool! Thanks for the info! I always wanted one of these revolvers and I don't need to explain why. LOL!

Oh, I actually fired a revolver before. I don't remember the name, but it was a compact one and I believe it used 357 magnum or something like that. The rental guy said sorry, the 44 magnum is busted, but try this one instead... it provides the same kick.

Range Officer: Where abouts do you live? If you live in the GTA, Ontario area, let me know where you're going to buy your S&W for the best price! I found some stores that sells them, but they're almost 2 hours drive away, the S&W 629 6.5" is almost $1k. I may consider used too. But I wouldn't mind having a brand new shiny 629.

If you guys are hung up on S&W then ok...
I have a Taurus (Mod 44) 6" .44 Magnum thats going on the EE real soon.

And oh...by the way...I hit a 12" steel gong with mine at 200 yrds with 240gr JSP bullets. And I did have witnesses.

Rick65Cat: Yeah, I'm hung up on it. Can't help it. Always wanted one of these things. Will be happy just looking at it. LOL!

I'm a total noob. Please direct me to EE site. Thx

Wow, 200 yards, 12" gong. Impressive!

BTW, never mind.. it's equipment exchange right here. Not sure how to get access to those. I'll read up on it later.
