IRUNGUNS has a nice PSA 16" midlength with stainless barrel for $699 right now. I had a Nork M4 I got at one of the sales $529.....it's not even worth that. Buy quality.

I have owned many different Norinco firearms and the quality has been very hit and miss.

However, the CQ-A was honestly one of the most reliable semi-automatic firearms I've ever owned. I don't think the people giving it negative reviews on here have actually owned one of the newer ones. Every real review I've read has been overwhelmingly positive. I can't even remember how many times I've been at the range at the guy beside me was having constant problems with his $3000 Christensen Arms or Stag arms AR-15 while my Norinco was pumping away with the cheapest and dirtiest of ammo. I've owned two now, unless you get unlucky and get a lemon you just can't go wrong. It's a very good budget AR15.

As far as re-sale value goes, I sold both on here eventually for different reasons and had no trouble getting rid of either, taking maybe only a $50 loss each time. $50 for 6 months rental of an AR15 is pretty darn good!

You are right. I've never owned a norinco firearm and I never will.

I have a 10.5 " Norinco and it works just fine. I have seen them new as low as $529. The S&W sport is probably the cheapest S&W u will find. I think they are around $700 but I don't believe they have the forward assist or ejection port cover. I believe some dealer had U.S. made AR's for under $900 recently. Which I thought was a smoking deal.

Competition is great. There is no longer a need to buy Norinco AR's. I picked up a S&W Sport last year with a 1:8 5r barrel for $729 from IRG.

That would make you totally unqualified to comment on them, now wouldn't it. So how about you um er - don't. Perhaps letting people who have half a clue what they're talking about comment, would be more constructive, and make you look less like a useless troll.

OP - in that price range the hot item at the moment IS that PSA through Irunguns - great quality gun, well known maker, fantastic price point. Right now, that is the way to go. There is however not one thing wrong with the functionality, durability and accuracy of the Norinco AR, there are folks here with 10K plus through theirs and only regular maintenance. Some folks have difficulty with the idea that a person would put $6000 in ammo through a $600 gun.

No it's definitely doesn't make me unqualified. Just because I don't own one doesn't mean I haven't shot them. I have shot 3 different t97s and 1 norc ar. So I'd say I can give my opinion. And my opinion is they are crap. And there are thousands of people that agree with me :). Don't have to get all butt hurt when someone talks poorly about your beloved Chinese rifle
