Last year I bought a new production Colt Model 1873 SAA from a supplier in New Brunswick. It is labelled by Colt as a P1850, which means it is a color case hardened, 45 LC, 5.5 inch barreled SAA. It's a beautiful gun however I can't get over the cheap looking plastic grips they've always come standard with. I would like to go with sanbar stag or ivory grips but I have yet to find a Canadian that can do the work. If I use a yank to custom fit the grip I have to disassemble the grip frame from the pistol to mail it accross the border (which I don't want to do for valuation reasons). Anybody have experience with good quality stag or ivory SAA grips?
