I've had a few scopes on lever guns over the years, and currently have a red dot on a guide gun, and a 2.5X pistol scope on another Winchester in 30-30.
Anyone with open sights wanna race???

I admit there are a place for scopes and in most cases a lever gun isnt the place.
I made that mistake with the guide gun at first by putting a 3-9 scopechief on it. though it made it easier for my dad to shoot out to 200 yards with the gun, it still didnt fit the purpose of the gun.
Its not a LR rifle, so why bother. So it now wears a red dot, and other than putting a scout scope on it, I wouldnt have that gun any other way.
My 30-30 with the scout scope on it is faster than any open sighted rifle I've ever shouldered in my life. For anyone who hasnt tried on, your missing out.
They're a dream in the bush, and really extend your range with the old dirty thirty. especially when you put a half decent scope on it.
I also have my 356 Win Model 94.
It came with a 1.75-5 scope and mounts on it, and that was just plain wrong IMHO. The first thing I did was order from TSE an AO ghost ring, and front post site. (Now XS sights)
Its good for a 3.5 inch group @ 100 yards (which I think is more me than the gun)and thats fine with me

. Call me weird, but I think a Savage 99 needs a scope on it to make em look right. but hey, thats just me.
