There are things that are worse than wounding/losing an animal; if we hunt long enough, and shoot enough game, it will happen to us.
My friends found two bull moose shot and left to rot this year. In the area we hunt there is a draw for big bulls - in the general open season you can only shoot an immature bull, which means it has to have no more than two tines on one antler. The two bulls shot and left to rot - in the middle of cut-blocks - were young bulls that had more than two points on one side. Whoever shot them realized what they had done and just left the carcasses there. Disgusting and a disgrace.
