my my, a custom Winchester 70 by John Bollinger. These guys sure pick beautiful furniture for those custom guns. I ain't rich. If I owned a rifle like this, I would permanently hang it over my fireplace so I could look at it every day or evening while sipping brandy (poor man's cognac). I would not dare shooting it. Imagine putting a scratch on that wood.

Extended tangs and torx-head stock screws look wrong together. And is it just my eyes, or is that metalwork matte finished? That's just wrong and lazy on a custom, IMO.

Thats pretty nice. If you can afford that you can afford to fix the scratches from using it. After all what could a 2x4 like that cost anyhow? I like the chambering, 450 Ultra. I would like to see the loaded rounds.

That is one beautiful rifle! Cant really see where $12,000 goes though...

Its been a while since my sickness for nice wood, but that rifle is seems a very fair price at $12,000.00?

Ever price an integral rib, checkering of that detail, having the bolt checkered in panels, or how about that (extremely exotic) bottom metal? I can't even imagine what you would pay for that metal and metal work!

I believe that is rust blue (more money!)?

Nice gun...I'll take it! :D

Nice to use as well! If you can afford to of course
I'm not I would use a gun like that for hunting, even if I could afford it.

I can certainly appreciate the work and talent that goes into a rifle like that, but my tastes find all that engraving and bling at bit over the top. While others may disagree, I find guns like that are more "art" than not.

.

Remember that 12,000.00 price tag is a used price not new. That rifle new from John will be closer to 20,000.00 without the scope. I don't understand why someone would be scared to use one of these rifles or any other wood stocked rifle in the field?

Scratches can be fixed. I have one of Johns guns and use it alot. I have another on the way and plan on useing it as well. Buy one and enjoy it!!

whaaat?
im not a huge fan of over-engraved rifles, but this one is actually quite tasteful and has a minimal amount of embellishment.

this is over-embellishment (IMO):
