Safety won't engage Help please

It does not engage under any circumstances?

Did it formerly engage. Or is the rifle new to you?

Have you, or previous owners done any modifications to the rifle?

Need more info like Stevebot said. Is this a new acquisition? The safeties are also very stiff at first. I know when I first received mine I thought the same thing, but it was because I wasn't pushing hard enough to engage it.

Take the trigger out, lock the trigger guard in place.
#### the hammer and try the safety
If it won't lock, push down on the hammer till it stops and holding it there, try locking the safety
If it locks and holds the hammer let us know
If it fails to grab and lock the hammer.... Something is broken

Yes, I am racking the bolt but the safety won't engage

Please stop posting bad stuff about this rifle I really want to buy one and all you guys are
just making me nervous as heck and forcing me to seriously consider buying a 3000 dollar
rifle made in Chile that I have no right to be spending so much money on. Suck it up and
keep it to yourself please, Be a Man and deal with it.

He's having a safety issue with his rifle, and your advice is to suck it up and deal with it? Am I missing something??

I think Brendan10 is being ironic...

Brendan: The M305s often have some small issues, but in most cases they are easily worked through. The resources in this forum are first-rate. At around $450, they are a steal, even if they need a little tweaking. I just bought a second one... Have no fear...join in the adventure!

I had the same problem and fixed it with a brand new safety spring. Now the safety works perfectly. But my best recommendation would be to take apart the trigger group and find out how it works and to see where the problem may lie. Here's the video that helped me:

We're trying to diagnose an issue via p.m. , we'll see if we can't figure this one out.
Safety spring is a good possibilty but a couple easy tests I've asked the OP to perform (by p.m.) Should reveal what parts to look a lil closer at

Shooters Den, I'm sure you heard of it. Friday evenings is when all the old guys hang out there. I'm sure we can figure out what's going on.
I'll be there, and I know the M305, have one myself, I've detailed the trigger group before, so I know my way around it.
