I have an interest in a Sako Bavarian in .30-06 but became aware of ejection these rifles have and perhaps some Tikkas as well. Googling "Sako 85 ejection problem" gave me a lot of reading. The spent case strikes the scope tube or turret and most times lands back in the ejection port.
Beretta the new owner of Sako is not interested in fixing this issue and their customer support is ranked rather low. Brownells sells a Sako extractor for the Remington 700 which apparently fixes this issue ...
According to Stoeger they recommend using their expensive and proprietary Optilock base mounts and rings and in medium for lets say a Leupold 3-9X40 which I am pretty sure will not provide a good cheekweld like Leupold rings in low and with no bases needed. The Sako 85 has tapered dovetails and Leupold rings apparently fit fine when in the right placement.
Has anyone here experienced this issue?
Maybe I will just forget about this Sako and look for some other quality wooden .30-06 like a Steyr perhaps?
