Sako A7?

They are not free floated despite them putting the little piece of plastic under under the barrel to make you think they are. The recoil lug is an approximately 1" square piece of aluminum that sits freely in the plastic stock. The bottom of the the action has a notch cut in it and this is where the recoil lug connects. If you pick a caliber that has any kind of recoil the steel receiver will deform the soft recoil lug as a result. I

Sako is also discontinuing them.

For a gun that runs ~1k there is to much plastic and aluminum recoil lugs just don't make sense.

true, but if you are looking for a short action cal in a true short action, the A7 gets the call, so what if it's a wee bit more doe! If you want one, you just peal out a little more. If you're cheap, buy a Stevens and a Kia to drive and your work boots from Wally World!
My oldest son has a T3 in 308, he likes it. Side by side they look quite similiar. Hey, they are both from Finland, you gotta expect "goodness", right? :D

If you are looking for a bargain, there is better stuff out there. In the same price range, check out the new Winchester 70s. If you want a Sako, buy an older model, a 75 or an 85.
 
I have one in 7-08 and i love the gun! They are light, accurate and the action is as smooth as can be. You can buy them scoped for 1100$ if you want sell the burris that comes with them and you are down to about 850$. I would take this gun over any other stainless/synthetic gun in that price range. Yes the 85's are a lot better they are almost double the price. You can't go wrong and anyone i know that has one is more than happy with theres!
 
As mentioned, the A7's are great shooters forthe money. I LOVE my Sako m75 rifles and the few Tikka T3 LS . The A7 doesnt have the fit/finish and features as a m75 or m85. depends on whast you want to send. Its like comparing a GMC Yukon to a Yukon Denali. A few more features for more $$$$.

I almost bought a new Sako A7 recently, but then I found a mint Sako m75 rifle in the same caliber, so I went with it instead.

Value with a scope for around $1100, the A7 will suit you just fine.
 
I have one in 30-06 came complete with a scope for under $1,000. Shoots nice but does remind me more of a Tikka T3 then a Sako, probably because it is the same company. Shoulders nice and shoots well and with the plastic stock more suitable for rough treatment
 
I had one in 7RM boy that thing kicked HARD it was so lightweight. I'm not *especially* recoil sensitive...but even with a slipover limbsaver on it, I had to grit my teeth a lot when working up loads LOL.
 
I am lookin at adding an A7 to my hunting rifles as well. Looking for a 7mm08 or 308 chambering quick I think is perfect for a light packable hunting rifle like the A7.
 
Anyone have a T3 hunter? found some in stainless-wood stocked, they seem to be pretty light for having a wood stock.

Fit and finish seems pretty good on these rifles, any problems with the plastic mag's?

The glass reinforced composite mags are great, and are among the smoothest feeding of any mag-fed rifle I have ever shot.
