Sako monte Carlo stock recoil vs classic stock?

It's weird with me. Some shotguns and rifles with 'classic' stocks just come up and mount butt to shoulder, eye to scope. Others I wind up with the toe of the stock in my shoulder and have to readjust. The Monte Carlos would fix that particular error. I prefer the Anschutz Monte Carlo because of this. However, Win Featherweights mount just fine.

But the Sako Hunter stock supposedly puts heel in right place while giving a cheek rest at scope-appropriate heights and the slant of the comb directs the cheek rest away under recoil...

Hard to tell a difference in standard rounds but when it comes to bigbores that kick hard I think the straight stock works better. Most African rifles seem to have a pretty straight stock and little difference in drop between heel and comb.

I agree that up to about .300 or .338Mag levels, they both work pretty well. But if I'm shooting something with serious recoil, then the Monte Carlo works much better than the straight stock. Too bad for me, because I hate the look of a Monte Carlo comb. The Weatherby stock is, hands down, just about the most comfortable, ugliest-looking stock I have ever used. The Sako Monte Carlo is less pronounced, less comfortable, and less ugly!

Everybody's build, recoil tolerance, and shooting style is slightly different. You need to try for yourself.

Monte Carlo for me.

Once a rifle gets more powerful than a 30-06 straight stocks kick the crap out of me. With a classic stock and a scope only about 1/2 of the butt pad is on my shoulder.

The worst of all for me is a Ruger model 77

My Sako Monte Carlo fits me better than any other rifle. It just feels and points naturally, and that makes a difference for me.

It might be different for you.
