I picked up a Sako Quad a week or so back and put a Leupold 4-12x40AO on it with some garbage rings. The rings will be getting changed this week. I took it out a few days ago and tried running some different types of ammo through it but it was a crappy day with 40-60km wind and I wasn't impressed. I took it out yesterday and it was a little better. Today I went out with the idea that maybe I just needed a brick or so through the gun before it starts to shoot well. I was using American Eagle with the intent of putting a bunch through it. I don't know if it's me getting used to the gun and scope or if it's getting broken in, but it seems like it will be a decent rifle accuracy wise. I still need to play with the torque on the action screws and to get a decent rear bag so I can maintain some type of consistency shot to shot. Ammo choice is limited here, so I doubt I'll see the true potential of this thing for a while. I probably should have gone with a higher power scope for paper. The trigger is about 2 pounds and the shots were 51 yards as per my range finder.

Thanks. It's .22 and I don't think I'll get any other barrels for it. I wanted a decent synthetic bolt gun and came across this one. I really like it. If I want something with a little more oomph, I have a .223 T3 that I hand load for for about the same price as 17HMR. Those are 5 shot groups, I forgot to mention it in the first post.

I went out the other day and was trying some different ammo out. I was shooting 5 shot groups, but both of these targets have 4 rounds though them. I really need to work on my technique and keeping it consistent to eliminate the flyers. I'm pretty impressed with this rifle, less so with my performance. These were shot @ 50 yards.

If you where to go to a different scope, what would
you use? I will be scoping up one of these soon, and
have a cheaper 6-18 ,I think, but to good of gun for a 120.oo
scope.
Have you tried federal ammo?

The AE22 is American Eagle (Federal ammo). If I was going to buy another scope for this rifle again and was going to be shooting a lot of paper, I would be looking at something like the VXII 6-18AO scope. The one I have is very nice, but .22cal holes are pretty small at 50 yards and as one member here has as his sig...'aim small, miss small'.

I also have the Sako Quad in the 22 WRM. I’m very pleased with it’s accuracy. I have a 3-10 x 40 mm Weaver Grand Slam on mine and find this scope adequate for my application...

When I referred to Fed ammo, I was thinking of better
grade than AE- or even the balk packs, I have been using
Fed gold match in some of my target pistols.
That was my thoughts on the scope as well. Thanks

If I could find some decent ammo, have a good rest on a calm day and do my part, I think this rifle would be very impressive. When I put 3 into 1 hole with AE22 at 50 yards, I hope it wasn't some kind of fluke.

Nothing yet, still working on the 'me' part of shooting. It seems like it will put most ammo into 1/2" group though. It seems to me like it needs to be held quite tight for the groups to be smaller. I'm still working on my technique. I really do like the rifle though.
