Sako rifles

Things like being allowed to top feed a magazine without removing it from the rifle, being able to open the bolt on safe, no plastic parts...it makes it worth it to me.
That sums up my view too. I also like the various action lengths offered by Sako which more or less scales the action to the cartridge. Tikka is one size fits all.

I am totally with Bartell and claybuster here. Sako's make me smile when I pick them up, Tikka's not so much. The whole single stack clip thing makes me go WHYYYYYY!!!!!!!

On the price, I've owned or currently own 6 different Sako's and I've loved them all, but I never bought any of them new, thus didn't pay $1700 for any of them.

I own both. My first "new" big game rifle was bought 10 years a go - Sako model 75SS 300WM. The fit, finish (no pun intended) feel. No other rifle interested had my interests. Awesome shooter. My hunting buddy was going to get a Browning SS 300WM but was convinced to go with the same rifle as mine, and when I come back from the city and handed his rifle to him-he was in love and still loves it today.

I thought I was a 1-rifle guy -WRONG. In 2004 I waited the extra year for the Tikka T3 in the laminate stainless 270WSM and the Sako Greywolf wasnt released yet. I do not care for the Tikka synthetic stock compared to the Sako. The 270WSM was something different and something my fiance (at the time) could shoot good. Later that fall I picked up another for me as she took over the first. Both are excellent shooters with 140gr Accubonds.

As to say now, I have 4 Sako m75 SS rifles, 2 Sako m75 Greywolfs and 2 Tikka T3's in the laminate. I love my Sakos but for the money you cant beat a Tikka. And as Blargon said, P & D Enterprises has a Sako m75SS 270SM for a great price....I even called on it yesterday morning and contemplating it as I prefer the Grey synthetic stock over the black one. But for the price its a great buy.

Just ordered the Sako 75 SS in 270 WSM from PD. They also just got in some 75 Hunter Deluxe's in for 1099.00 in 7mm Rem Mag. They just got them in from the factory, they had some leftover stock.

The only reason I went for the 270 WSM, is the weight. The deluxe is 2lbs heavier. Very good prices though, so it makes it worth the jump from the Tikka's. However, 1600-1700 for the Model 85 is too much.

I like the Sako stocks much better then the bottom line Tikka syn.'s. The laminate, wood, tactical Tikka's are nice guns though IMO.

:eek:Good thing you picked it up b/c I was soo tempted as I looked into a Macmillan stock this morning (but didnt like the 20-25 week wait)for the one you bought. Like I said if it was the Grey with Black ruber inlay it would of been sold yesterday morning..

Great buy rylsrom for that price.
:dancingbanana:

I think they said they had 4 in 270 wsm SS and 4 in Hunter deluxe 7mm Rem. So they probably have not sold them all.....

Oh sure burst my bubble...now I have to reconsider again....like I need another 270WSM (have 2 in the Tikka T3 LS models)...but not in a Sako m75

I just bought 2 weeks ago a mint Sako m75 Greywolf 300WSM with Leupold VX3 gunmetal grey scope from P&D, plus another new Greywolf in 25-06 that I'm doing up a 338-06AI with a new barrel @ Colrlane's for the fun of it. So I better not do the 270WSM. But it sure would be good in a Macmillan custom colored stock that I have had my eyes on.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...beteer not, the Misses at home might get upset.....lol

You could have got 4 Tikka's :runaway::runaway:

Already had 3 tikka's. If I would have gotten a SS Tikka it would have been 700 and a Deluxe tikka would have been 900. So that is 1600, I will pay the extra 500 for the SS and Deluxe Sako...

I really didn't want 3 or 4 blued Tikka's.

Or I could have just bought 7 Stevens.....
