Sako ####

No one showed one yet, so I thought I should post infos on these little known treasures.
The first centerfire large action used by Sako were the FN actions. Sako built barreled actions and complete rifles for many "manufacturers", such as Weatherby. They also made one of finest adjustable trigger ever made to fit a Mauser action.
At first, they used the standard "commercial" action, with bolt shroud mounted safety, then, around '56, they started using the Supreme (the one below is made on a Supreme).
Production started in 1951 with S/N 100001 and ended up in '60, but in fact, they continued to sell the ramaining stock even after the introduction of their own L61R in 1962.

Here's the complete rifle;

I have 2 of these FN actioned Sakos , 300 H&H and 375 H&H both being restocked and tweeked a bit to to Dakota 3 position safety, barrel band swivel.
Not finished yet but I will post pictures this weekend.

Hope you kept the original stocks as the Magnum ones are even rarer... and these are real sleepers. The unmolested examples are somewhat rare, too.

Good luck finding a wood stock. I think you would have to find someone to custom make it for you. They are great rifles, just there is very few options for aftermarket stuff. I think mainly due to the recoil lug design, or lack of recoil lug design. Mine has what appears to be a factory muzzle brake. I have been told that they never came with a brake, but I have also been told that a limited number of the magnum models did have a factory brake.
I would like to find one like yours with the smaller bolt face, to build a custom 260 off the action.

The 7mm STW and 30-378 both came with factory muzzle breaks. I sold a few of them.

Thanks, I have heard reports of a few of them out there, but nothing confirmed. Nice to know someone else has seen them.
When I send this one out to get the new barrel, I am hoping the gun smith can set the factory barrel up properly again for it, so I can switch it back to factory again if I ever want to.

A friend of mine has an AII in 22-250 as well. Except its not the deluxe model.
It has a stamping on the bottom of the barrel in front of the forearm that says imported to Canada by Stoeger

It's the only one we've ever seen with that stamping, has anyone else seen this?

Sako A7 in 30.06. Probably considered by some to be the equivalent of a "fat chick" in the middle of a #### thread but I love this gun. The soft touch really takes the plastic fantastic feel out of the synthetic stock and the action is every bit a Sako.
