Saskatchewan New RPAL Completion

Seems to have gone downhill, yes. I've had them complete transfers late Friday afternoon before a long weekend "hey, you probably would like to get out to the range with this over the weekend..."...I guess it was unrealistic to expect that kind of service to continue for any length of time.

My buddys took three months at least. I sent mine in early and it was all done RPAL & LTATT in just over two weeks, so who knows what or how they do it.

I'm at 4 weeks since application sent, the RCMP site doesn't show my application as having been received yet. Oh well I guess it gives me more time to save for a better gun?

well it showed up online today...might have been yesterday...so from the time they received it to going online is about 3 1/2 weeks.

I guess I can call in get my number to have my reference phone in.

well mine has been about 49 days....last week Mirimachi said it was sent to Sask Firearms officer....I called today to Sask officer...on hold for over 20 min...very polite lady said it was "assigned" to an officer 2 days ago...hmmm...so take a week to get assigned?

She would not give me a timeline it could be another month she says....????? Says it now goes into background checks, etc. I had my references phone in couple weeks ago with no issues. I asked if there are any issues now...and she said nothing on the file yet. it is the Q....said call back in a month again...wow. I will call next week.

hmmm...

My references have called in for me this week. Hopefully get good news soon. Then need LTATT. Then need a transfer. This process is about as slow as a Dr. appointment.

Sask CFO told me over the phone that unless you have collector status they WILL NOT approve any transfers without a faxed in copy of range membership.

March 22nd - RPAL Application sent to Miramichi, Express post, sig required
March 28th - Received and signed for at the CFC in Miramichi
Apr 22nd - Entered into the system
Apr. 30th - Approved and Issued
May 9th - Still waiting for it in the mail.

On April 19th it was not in the system yet, after calling the CFC they said a 1-2 week backlog and that i shouldn't expect to see it online for about that many more weeks, but on Monday there it was. Did my interview on Thursday, my references did there's by Tuesday morning, and Tuesday afternoon it was approved and issued and i should expect it within 2 weeks (next Tuesday but I'll give them until Thursday).

when you say approved and issued what do you mean? you have the exact timeline as me...mine just went to Sask firearms officer last week...hmmmm

Cool just got approved and issued today. Says up to 2 weeks to get it in the mail. Cross fingers for 2 weeks I guess. This is like 2 days after references phoned in.

Canada Post said they delivered my renewal application on 14MAR2013, so I checked the CFC online for the status. It said it had issued my new license in FEB2008 and I should be receiving it soon. It maintained that position until 30MAR when it updated to say my application had been received in DEC2004 and was being processed.

Yesterday it updated again to say they had received my renewal application on 14MAR2013 and initial processing had been completed. I don't know what initial processing is, but all that suggests it takes them up to three weeks to acknowledge they have your application. And that meanwhile the CFC will be travelling back and forth through time, which must be rather interesting for them and is perhaps why these things don't get done sooner.

Update: 52 days after the acknowledged date of receipt of my renewal application I telephoned CFC to enquire about possible causes of delay, e.g. anything missing or seeming incorrect on my application. I was told my application appears to be all correct and was forwarded to Sask CFO office for approval and that they are about a month behind on opening license applications so the quoted typical 45 day processing time isn't true. As of today, the online report hasn't changed.

The message that i had received indicated that it had been approved by the CFO and that they were printing the license and putting it in the mail.

As an update to that post, when I got home from work my RPAL was on the kitchen table. As of noon today I am the owner of a S&W M&P40 with a LTATT good for all Ranges, Gunsmith's and Border Crossing in AB and SK. There are some perks to living in Lloydminster :D

You bastard. I only have alberta and the lloyd fish and game club. My wife has the same as you.

Mine took 10 months to get, said initial processing started or whatever for 11 months. I phoned in every month or so and they told me there was a backlog and that it was passed on to the chief firearms officer for review. Sent it away in February and received it in December. Average time is about 3 months though for everyone I know that has gotten it recently.
