Saskatchewan whitetail draw

Wow.... $1000. Be sure to let me know if you choose to go to Manitoba, as I will gladly spend an extra G to have one less guy pushing bush around here. Maybe other CGN'ers from SK will volunteer to pick up the slack when you come back with the ever predictable "My 15 buddies that I push every little bluff and coulee with is 15G, you got that laying around?" Get off your AB high horse and hunt there.

And im sure that, after u guys push bush you break out the bangoo,s Too.

when I think of saskatchewan only two things come to mind.

1st is how big will my SK buck be this year.
2nd is the movie deliverance.

Just look at your user name

I don't push bush, as I don't consider it a challenge to spook out deer with a bunch of people. I try to arrow my deer from as close as possible. As for the rest of that I'm not going to dignify with an internet fight, just please, I beg you please to say that to the farmer who's land you are hunting on and in the bar where you are going to go after your hunt and let us all know what happens.

First of all. Maybe you should look up some interprovincial migration numbers and see how many Sask people are moving to alberta to cash in on your oilpatch money. If it wasnt for migration, your province wouldnt be where it is today because the work wouldnt be getting done.

Secondly, When he said "poor province" in that context, he obviously wasnt refering to your province being poor as in no money. Have you never heard phrases like "poor baby" or "that poor b@stard". Make more sense to you now?

And last of all. Why would we want to go to your province to hunt whitetail? Why would we be jealous. Its obvious where the better hunting is.

First off a huge percentage of people who work in the oil patch are,nt that smart so that about sums that up.

second saskatchewan does have better bucks. Thats why I hunt there every fall:D

Ok Mr. Smarty pants why don't you get a nice big sticker for the back window of your Prius that says oilfield people are stupid and drive around the Hat for a week or two and let us know how it works out for you.

Kind of sounds like someone who roughnecked and couldn't hack it doesn't it?

when it says up to 4 people can apply on the same application, does that mean 4 people for 4 tags, or 4 people for 1 tag? i'm planning on hunting the family farm in the SE corner this year, always wanted to and but never could until it was opened last year, but if 3 guys are party hunting off one tag, i don't think it's worth the bother. that said, if it is 4 for 4, or 3 for 3, etc etc, i can live with not going ever year, and giving the population a chance to breathe.

I don't think party hunting is allowed. If YOU shoot an animal YOU have to tag it (thats not saying tag sharing doesn't happen). The only way you could party hunt with say 1 moose tag is have the other people with tags for something else legal in that zone (like deer) but make sure you get the tag on the animal real quick. Based on that logic I would say its 3 for 3 and 4 for 4.

Exactly like a roughneck that got run for being too smart for his own good. I have grossed 80k this year and its only the first week of March. Not too bad for a white kid with a grade 12 education. I pay more income tax in a year then a teacher will gross, and I have no student loans and a 4 year head start in the work force. Book smarts will only take you so far in life. I remember going to work for a old driller in the mid 90's and the first question he asked me was "do you have your grade 12?" I responded yes. He replied "well that was a waste of 6 @^&# years wasn't it?":(

It just gives a better chance for your hunting party ( up to 4 people) to be drawn in the same zone.Same way residents hunt Mulies in the zones SERM haven't Fcuked Up

According to the local fish cop the reason for the draw is to spread hunting pressure from a few zones to the rest of the province. Some zones get swamped by hunters and some get little pressure so they think by limiting the number of Canadian resident hunters in each zone the hunting will improve in those zones.

But I repeat there are no deer here look in Manitoba or Alberta they are overrun with bug deer, the deer go into towns and vandalize cars and hassle old ladies so do them a favour and go shoot their deer.:p

Excellent, that's what I was hoping to hear, although I think the farm is in one of the "high pressure" zones.

You are commenting on other people's lack of intelligence, while in the same sentance, you spell "aren't" like this "are,nt". That is classic.

How are the deer doing in the Big River area?

I have a friend from AB that comes here every year. We hunt for two days for a buck larger than the one he last took - a 144 inch ten-pointer. If we can't find one he will take a large doe the third day and he is completely happy with that. My hunting buddy from here has family from BC here almost every year, however, it is two separate groups that rotate each year. These groups look for bucks larger thatn the 150 class they have and if they don't find one they will only harvest a doe if they need the meat. Otherwise, they go home and eat tag soup. We have the occasional lone hunter from other provinces that comes out and that is usually to try and get their best WT ever. ALL of these folks have been informed of the new draw requirement and they are still going to try and do the same thing as we have been doing. I think the draw will bring balance to the hunting pressures and would be a better way to do things. As with all new things we will have to see if it does work!!

They seem healthy, the scene when the snow goes will tell for sure. We had lots of snow and the wolves have been coming out of the forest more then usual, have to thin them out. The herd on my parents place has lost 2 or 3 that I seen but the bucks looked good at christmass.
