Saskatchewan

There is a dugout with 3 or 4 batches of ducklings probably 10 + ducks. They eat mosquitoe larva. Combined with the swallows there aren't a lot of mosquitoes. Seen grouse and rabbits. A stork or crane. Some thick thickets that probably house a few different critters. Have to setup the trail cams when I find them. No gopher.

What breed are these? Dugout is about 6 feet at the deepest spot I found. Water level looks like it's been higher.

An update. Water quality is good. House has a filtration system and softener and ro at the sink for drinking water. The hydrants tested ok as in drinkable. Seen lots of deer and antelope. Lots of yotes. Lots taken out by vehicles. After the harvest lots of grouse or prairie chickens. Couple difference from bc is the amount of birds. Lots. Owls, hawk types, swallows, doves. Need to take care of a couple of doves. Flies.. wtf. Traded ants for flies. Probably millions. And they ####. Who knew flies ####. Poop

Got the pu a nice new Saskatchewan plate! 2004 dodge ram 2500 Cummins. Only needed the drivers side mirror replaced. I cracked it backing up too close to a gate post. Thats kinda like the last big thing. Only the health care number left. And yep the flies are way down outside but still some hunkerd down inside. Taking care of them one fly at a time lol

Flies and maple bugs survived the first frosts at our acreage, unfortunately.
Yeah, same here, otherwise they'd have disappeared in July and August (weird weather year, 3-4 times cold enough for frost in July alone, and the gov't weather station cooked the books by not reporting temps from 10 at night til 6 am for 4-5 weeks). I think they normally go back to hell in the 2nd or 3rd week of October.

We use the bug-a-salt gun. I’ve left a couple behind in ranch houses we’ve stayed in over the years as well. It’s got way better range than a swatter and most will admit it’s kinda fun haha.
Might be on the restricted list idkIMG_2640.jpeg
