i may be beating a dead horse, but has anyone come up with a better mag solution for the axis in 7.62x39?? or someplace to get spare mags even?

There is a fella who cut the bottom of a magazine and glued the two together.

There is also a 3d printing company in Canada who can 3d print you magazines. I dont think they sell on cgn so you will need to google it.

I purchased a .223 magazine and modified the retention lips.

took it out today, about 80% lite strikes with milsurp ammo. not impressed. so now the hunt for a heavyer fireing pin spring. anyone have this figured out allready?

Can someone PM me the 3D printer guy info, as I need a 10 round .223 magazine body for a Savage 10.

Thanks
Randy

i ####caned the muzzel brake. i wanted to be able to use it without muffs. dont need a brake for this caliber this is my first and most likely last savage

Small shank barrels should interchange. Bolt heads are easy to swap. The 7.62X39 head is a odd size. If they were to be available I have a couple of old Savages that could put to use for surplus ammo.

I wonder if the barrel, complete with sights and rail can be fitted, to a better Savage with an accustock and better mag assembly?

I bought a .223 Savage Hog Hunter (469.00) years before Scout rifles went on the market.

Bought Savage Accustock for 50.00, bottom metal and mag for 80.00 all with 4.4 inch spacing. Bedded the stock painted it, and love the bargain varmint gun, but this is a Model 11 action best to message Savage and see what works for stocks and mags.

Have no issues keeping up with rifles costing way more.

119 lasered yards in slight wind, bipod, 75 grain factory ammo, handloads group better.
Dime shown:

Have a few Savages, find the triggers and actions way smoother than many equally priced rifles.

ok so im not as un happy today as i was yesterday. i built a shim on the lathe to go behind the spring today. i get 4 out of 5 to go every mag now. still not the best but way way better im gona tweek it a bit more tomorow n see if we cant hit that elusive 100% mark

If you are going to base an entire company on one rifle, the Axis probably isn't a good choice for Savage.

I had issues with my Axis and CCI primers. I switched to federal which are known to be soft compared to other brands, and my issues went away. Obviously this doesn't solve your problem with milsurp ammo, but it shows that light strikes isn't unheard of in an axis. I bet if you look up reviews on the 7.62x39 versions that light strikes on milsurp ammo is common, in fact I'm pretty sure I've seen talk of there being a heavier spring available from Wolff or something like that to fix that very problem.

It was suggested to me that maybe my firing pin is too blunt. Switching primers solved my issues though so I never got around to messing with the firing pin.
