Savage 10TR le/military

The Accutrigger may become unreliable under 2lbs. Not enough spring pressure to properly engage the sear when you close the bolt. It's one of those things that shows up on some rifles and not others. Just take your tools with you, so you can increase it a little if it happens. Have fun :)

The trigger pull on mine came in at 2 3/4 lbs. I'll leave it there for now.

OK, off to the parts store, I think I will practice first on a cil/anshutz 180 .22 I fixed up for my 12 year old. Believe it or not this .22 which is over 30 years old already has metal pillars.

When you do bed the rifle. Spend the time on prep, fixing a rush job is not fun, if it can be fixed. Watch several how-to YouTube videos and make a plan before you start.

I taught a friend the process, he rushed a bit on his first try and we almost had to cut the stock off of his action. Not fun man....

Im still awaiting mine to come in. What is everyone running for rings? Im thinking low or mediums... I dont have the greatest optics for it yet, just a Bushnell Elite 4-12x40 to get me started and will upgrade in time.

For now I just put a Bushnell 10 X on it. I needed medium rings for the bell to clear the rail, even though that results in about 3/8" between the barrel and bell. With a longer tube you could likely sit the scope lower.

For someone looking to get out of the semi-308 side for a while and pick up their first "precision" bolt rifle in .308, would many of you choose the 10TR over a Rem700 SPS AAC?

I put medium rings on mine.

Tagged :) waiting patiently....

It seems like these things are flying out the doors, your patience will pay off, even if 5 days seems like forever, haha!

I’m using extra high rings on mine, but only because I ordered a chassis and I’m thinking the forend might be a bit too tall, (in pics, almost looks in-line with the rail). If I didn’t order the chassis, I bet medium rings might do the trick, especially since I’m not running a massive scope.

I’m using a Bushnell Elite Tactical 5-15x40mm and at max magnification for a 200 meters, one of the mil dots just about covers a 4 inch area on the target sheets I was using. I’m thinking I will probably want to upgrade in the not too distant future.

It depends, id have to shoot the rifle a few times before i decide to put a M/B on it

I think that’s what I should have done. I ended up mounting the world’s biggest muzzle brake on mine. If it wasn’t threaded, I probably wouldn’t bother, but just because it was, I had to mess with it. Now that it’s on there, I don’t mind it. I can keep my target in the sight picture when I let of a round, and it doesn’t take as long to get settled back in.

Thanks Jvezina, Mister Donut and 762shooter

I look forward to getting mine in shortly and seeing how my choice of optics will fit. I may just cave and get a set of mediums to play it safe, so at least it is able to make it out for a thorough testing... and re-evaluate the clearance issues on putting on lows.

Glad to hear you managed to pick one up buddy. I'm running into the problem of deciding what scope I want to put on mine, nevermind deciding on what height rings.

That's why snap-caps were invented. Those things have saved me lots of grief.

tell me about it! Exact same dilema... I've been considering everything from moving my bushnell 3200 fixed 10x off my markII, to stealing my 700 5R's NF nxs 5.5-22, or (dont tell the wife i'm even considering it) buying a nightforce 3.5-15, or sightron (so many magnification options I'm hopelessly lost there), I've been looking at schmidt and bender's hunting scope for 1500, or a handful of the vortex options... It's such a pain because on top of that, there's so few places, where you can go and look through all of them at any sort of a distance looking for clarity of image. (plus I don't trust bullet drop compensating reticles, especially when I reload).

There's also the little dirty cheating bastard inside of me that wants to try out the Burris Eliminator 3 laser range finding scope that automatically calculates the bullet drop based off your muzzle velocity and puts the little light up on it hehehehe... it could be so fun, but I worry the novelty would wear off and I'd be sitting there wondering 'whats the point...'

the two that really have me stuck is the nightforce MOAR reticle (my current has the np-r1 and I love it) and the sightron LRMOA reticle. Any of you have an opinion on the two? likes or dislikes about either? Suggestions are more than welcome since I clearly can't make up my own mind!

Yep Dark Eagle Custom mag, picked up a couple from Northern Republic Magazine, they are pricey but well made and don't require any mod of the bottom metal. Only complaint I have about the gun so far is the stock, it's too long and I had to put a cheek riser on to get a good weld.
I'm hoping that some aftermarket stocks will eventually come available for it.
