Savage 11 International Trophy Hunter

Good to hear they are honouring price! My guess is they had the wholesale not retail price listed!

Some poor IT guy had a bad day at work! I would love to send him a TY card! :)

My model 16 ITH in 308 arrived yesterday!

I immediately compared it to my Weather Warrior (WW) in 223. The WW is a more quality made rifle but it is twice the price. The big differences are:

ITH Stainless steel is lower luster and does not APPEAR to be of the same quality as the WW (visual examination)
ITH Trigger guard, floor plate and magazine are plastic, all SS on the WW.
ITH magazine latch is plastic. WW is SS.

I will shoot it this weekend and post the targets.

I was considering putting this in a Boyds stock and keeping the detachable magazine but I might go blind mag considering the amount of plastic parts. It looks like it would be about $100 in parts plus magazine cost to switch up to metal.

I got the ITH in .223 just before Christmas, and like previously stated, the mag release is plastic, but overall it is a great rifle for the money. Mine is very accurate at 200 yards with quality factory rounds (About 3 inch groups), and I'm not the best shooter out there.

I'm VERY happy with mine and would definatly recommend it to anyone looking for a target rifle.

it sits in front of the trigger guard, made of plastic. I find it awkward to pull trigger, push bolt release and remove the bolt. Just a bad spot for it

I got out today and took 20 shoots with it to sight in. I changed the scope out beforehand and put a Bushnell Trophy 4-12X 40 mil adj Obj on it. The 3-9 weaver is actually more clear and has nice cross hairs but I want the higher power.

Anyhow, I was on paper at 10 yards with the first shot, (bore sighted with Bushnell Bore sighter beforehand). I was about an inch low so I put it up about 16 clicks and went to 100 yards. The first shot hit the 1" red dot at 100 yards. I should have went home after that! LOL

Anyhow, after farting around a bit with a few more shots, moving it two clicks here and there, I finally realized my son's pet reload for his Rem 700 in 308 may not be the best for my 1 in 10" twist barrel. Anyhow, I did two last sets of four shots at 100 yards and one at 200 yards. The attached target is from 100, at 200 I got about the same group but about 6 inches lower. I think I will have to work up my own load. And yes, that is the fun part.

I'll be posting in the reloading section if anyone has a recipe for 168g AMax and IMR4064 with a 1 in 10 twist.
