Well, that just goes to prove that what is true in one application isn't necessarily true in another. Looks like my comparison to the Rigby isn't valid, sorry about that.

I am just about to rebarrel my 416Rx308 in hopes that by a slightly different chamber dimension, brass life will improve greatly.
The 416Rx308 is simply 416Rigby brass necked down and I agree that to get 5 or 6 reloading is pushing the limits.
The plan I have is to alter the chamber so as I can use the slightly shorter 338 Lapua brass necked down. Hopefully this will give the case life that the 338LAI enjoys.

Well thanks for the reality check. I have never annealed and always assumed it was a simple thing to do. The learning never ends. I like that. You are a generous man to share your knowledge so freely. Cheers. I've been thinking of some sort of home made gizmo for a while now.

I used to think that too but I have now proven my present tech can turn perfectly good cases into CRAP;)

But I will be working on my tech more this year if I get some time.

I use mine for effectively killing animals out past 800 metres. Its got nothing to do with plinking or putting holes in a target. Thats why I made the choice to shoot 338LapuaAI.

:agree:
