Savage 110 Ba or Rem 700 Police in .338 lapua?

I agree on cutting down the scope rail, its pretty ugly.

I still haven't got my 300 gr Scenars in or my brass, but with Norma brass, not formed for my chamber and 225 grain SST's with 94 grs of RL25 this gun sighted in and held .5 MOA at 100 yards to get started..... then I ran out of brass (only bought 20 casings to get me by until the lapua stuff gets in) but I managed to punch a hole dead in the centre of my 300 yard gong........ it didn't even gong, it just put a clean .338 hole in the 1/2" hardened steel.

You should just leave it the way it is, Resale value is alway better Original.

You never say never.
You should of Ask your self that question before buying anything, Tomorrow is a different day then Today!

I wasn't expecting the 300 grn Scenars to fit the mags when loaded to the lands, but there is plenty of room, probably around .075" extra in the mags with the bullets right on the lands. I'm very happy about this, mag fed 300 grn bullets is a plus!

Hopefully if the weather is nice I can get out and try them in a few days.

shot some different loads tonight, best 250 grn was over 91 grs of RL25 .020" off the lands and it shot a less then .5" group at 100.

Best 300 grn load was over 87 grs RL25, .020" off the lands and it shot .75" group at 100....

The gun was doing some funny things though, my 225grn hornady loads where going everywhere at 100 when I started the day, at the end I thought I would shoot the last 5I had at a target 500 yards away, I ended up shooting about a 3" group at 500.... thats better then I was doing with them at 100 yards.....

I also think I'm going to load them all closer then .020" off the lands and see what that does, I want to see better then this at 100. My savage 223 did its best group tonight at 5 in .375" hole @ 100 yards.... thats tiny!

I kinda hope this 338's barrel smooth's out soon, my 223 took a couple hundred to start shooting like this.

I will try a few more loads at 100 yards and then move out to 500 plus to see how they do. The 225 grn hornady's really caught me off gaurd when they went to 500 ok...

How controllable is the rifles when shooting, how effective is the Muzzle brake? Very Tempting to get one!

Ummm it seems controllable enough??? I don't really know how to answer that, its a 15 lb gun and get shot from a bi-pod or rest, not free-hand.... I would not say this gun would be fun to take hunting, way way to big and heavy for that.

The muzzle brake seems good, my 6 lb 243 win was hitting my shoulder about the same when sighting in. I shot 50 rounds through this gun in one sitting, with no pains, or flinches.

AND IT SHOOTS!!!!!! finally got her out with some 300 gr and 250 gr Scenars at longer ranges. At 500 yards the 250's shot a 2.5" 5 shot group. At 650 yards the 300's shot under 3" (and 3 hit the same spot blwoing a big hole in my 1/2" plate).

I made a few hits at 900 yards, but without a spotter I was wasting ammo, I tried a few at my 1200 yard gong, but I need a spotter to go that far, I couldnt spot my shots until I went down there (foot low and left, using 9.25 mills up, dead on windage)

Well thank you for the INFO, if you give me the speed of the bullet at muzzle, weight of bullet, and the Height of the scope to the barrel, meaning center of scope to center of the barrel, I can get you a Cheat, Cheat, that will help you with the drop out to 1200yard.

That is fantastic! The 650 yard results indicate that it is showing signs of being a 1/4 MOA tack driving precision tool. A veritable masterpiece.
Bad you for make Gunboy drool with envy.:)
