I'm considering a Savage 111 Long Range Hunter in 338 Lapua. Any body have one who can offer their advise, yay or nay; pros/cons. Please only those who own one, I really don't want to know if you have something you think is better.
I think its too light to comfortably shoot 338. 110ba weight is more appropriate
The only .338LM I've shot was a Sako TRG-S, which isn't really all that heavy. I found the unbraked rifle to have recoil roughly equivalent to my .30-06 prior to receiving a new stock (original stock was a poor design that accented recoil). I personally don't think that it needs a brake, ESPECIALLY if it's a heavy barrelled rifle
Accustock has nothing to do with felt recoil.

It's design incorporates a free floating barrel, which greatly reduces the effect of recoil pressure on the line of firing.
Haha how do you figure?! It has everything to do with it. It's design incorporates a free floating barrel, which greatly reduces the effect of recoil pressure on the line of firing. Then it has a recoil buffer pad at the butt stock to absorb more recoil. Don't quite see how it has nothing to do with recoil?

I have a trg-s in 338 lapua for 13 years
now yhe barrel is replaced by a 29inch and the stock replaced by a manners mcst5 and recoil is a lot more comfortable
in its original configuration, when I was shooting the 30-06 to let the 338 cool doun, I was feeling like shooting 22lr
ps, since I shoot in sand pit and brakes are only good to spray sand in my face, I am alergic
you'll note that I said my .30-06 had a poor stock design, yours obviously didnt

Although I can't speak for dero338.
