Savage 110BA. Your Thoughts & Experiences

Yes the manuel is very vague. I searched the net high and low and I can not find anything even remotly close to a set of instructions for dismantling this thing. The closest thing I have found was a write up for torquing the accustock screws to improve accuracy.

instructions? whats that? I have my own procedure for tightening it back down into the stock, its a bit of a procedure, maybe im overthinking it.
#1 I tighten the receiver screws till they JUST get a tiny bit of tension, then just snug the locking lug.
#2 then firmly tighten the receiver screws.
#3 Loosen the locking lug just a smidge, firmly tighten receiver screws again.
#4 Re-tighten locking lug and receiver screws.
I think this ensures it always pressed firmly rearward into the locking lugs backstop and always sucked down into the wedge. I have no idea what savages recommended procedure is.

Here is why i'm concerned about tightening the accustock. Copied from another forum.

The other day I had a informative conversation with Mr. Chris Bezzina (main engineer at Savage Arms) who played a key part in the development of the AccuStock. I wanted to get detailed information on torque specs for the 10 LE weapons series. There is a sequence for reassembling in the manuals but for ultimate accuracy wanted by advanced shooters the recommended sequence is as follows.

Proper Adjustment of The AccuStock
There is a specific technique for assembling the action into the AccuStock, and it needs to be strictly adhered to as follows:

1. Ensure that the recoil lug “wedge” screw is backed out to the point where the wedge has sufficient vertical movement to allow the recoil lug to seat against the bottom of the aluminum rail.

There is also a discussion somewhere about leaving the rear most action screw relativly loose and shooting the rifle to get a group, then you slowly tighten the screw, shoot, tighten, shoot etc untill you get the smallest group.

2. With the action inserted into the stock, justify the action toward the rear of the stock to allow the recoil lug on the action to be seated against the boss on the aluminum rail.

3. Tighten the forward most screw to 10 in.-lbs. to seat the action against the aluminum rail boss, then back out one-half turn.

4. Tighten the middle action screw to 10 in.-lbs.

5. Tighten the rear action screw to 10 in.-lbs.

6. Tighten the forward action screw to 10 in.-lbs

Repeat steps four through six and increase torque value in increments up to a final torque value of 40 to 45 in.-lbs.

Note: It is extremely important to tighten per the instructions above because when you are tightening the action down into the AccuStock you are spreading the aluminum side rails and evenly moving the action down onto the base of the rail, ensuring positive engagement.

Thought I would add, I just finished cutting out the foam for my 110BA in .338 Lapua. Fit is pretty nice. I still have yet to glue the two halfs of the foam together though. The yellow book is my range log for the rifle.

Gonna try loading some just off the lands to single load as well as load some as long as i can for the clip. (3.65")....Crossing fingers and see how it turns out...

Issues with savage 338 LM

Hi
I finally got chance to go and shoot my new rifle and had several issues with it.
First of all I cleaned it thoughrouly and chambered a round from the magazine, it just clicked so I followed the misfire procedure, ejected the round and inspected it and then tried again, again it clicked. I followed the same procedure a second time and it fired on the third try.

When I went to open the bolt the brass was stuck in the chamber and would not eject so I used a rod to extract it. This happens every time for the eight rounds I fired. I did clean it between rounds.
I was using hornady 285g hpbt factory ammo.
Has anybody else had similar issues?
The good folks at Wolverine are taking it back to check it out for me!!!

Thanks

Savage 10BA .308

Bushnell Elite 6500 Tactical 2.5-16x42 with Mil-Dot reticle
Millett Tactical 30mm Low Rings
Magpul PRS-G3 Buttstock
Burris 9"-13" bi-pod (also have a Harris 6"-9" bipod for benchrest)

One of the most accurate and best built rifles I have ever owned.

You can't go wrong with either the 10BA or 110BA. Amazing value.

I really like my 110BA. Mine is in 300WinMag. The accuracy is exceptional for a factory rifle. My 110BA has been capable of 1/2 to 1 MOA accuracy at one mile(1760yds.) I have had a couple of super tight groups as well. I posted a video a while back that highlighted a stunningly lucky 3" group at 1750yds. It caught me totally off guard to do that! I dont know if i will ever do it again, but I suspect that the 15-20" range will be about average in perfect conditions. (Those conditions havent happened since that day! LOL!) Mind you, I havent shot since that day. Too many things going on in my life this year. The .338 Lapua should do even better I suspect. I hope to get out there again soon! I have not had a very good year so far. Family obligations, the weather....etc.

It will be theraputic to do some shooting again! The 110BA has impressed me significantly. For the price,Ifeel I got much more than a good value. Good luck, and have fun you gunnutz!!!

I don't suspect the 338 will do any better for raw accuracy. Terminal Performance at range it will trounce the 300wm though....

I just did my first round of 208AMAX loads and think I have a load at 3050fps at the barrel, a couple of 10 shot strings and I may be cooking with fire. :D

Just bought one! I'm desperate to shoot it, but never seems to stop bloody raining here!
I can already tell that I'm going to have buy the reloading equipment for it, ammo up here is around $6 a shot!
Savage 110 BA with a Bushnell Elite Tactical 4.5-30x50 Mil-Dot scope and bi-pod of course.
Going to go buy a damn shelter soon so I can shoot in the rain if I have too :)

How much are you guys paying? Very interested in a .308

Just bought mine used. Had less than 20 rounds through it, dude bought it for bear hunting and figured out he could never carry it anywhere. His loss was my gain at $3000.
Just snuck out between rain storms this afternoon and shot it for the 1st time.
I'm in love! :sniper: :D
Trouble is I killed $120+tax in ammo in only a few minutes, gotta find cheaper ammo and soon!

Yes $3000 for a Savage 110 BA with a Bushnell Elite Tactical 4.5-30x50 Mil-Dot scope and bi-pod.
Your not going to tell me that was a bad deal? I think I did very well on that one. Like I said it\'s like new, less than 20 rounds shot through it! The scope alone is worth over $1000 easy!

Cabela\'s just had that scope on sale for $750 as Bushnell has revamped it. I think you paid new price for the package.
